Official Advisory: Student Emergency Go Bags

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In light of recent seismic activity in the country and our ongoing commitment to campus safety, The Pleasant Mount School is implementing an emergency preparedness initiative for the upcoming school year.

We strongly recommend that every student bring a personalized Emergency Go Bag on June 15, 2026, the first day of classes. These bags will remain on campus throughout the year—stored safely in your child's classroom under their chair or inside their assigned cubby—ensuring immediate access in the event of an unexpected calamity.

Student Go Bag Checklist
A student's school Go Bag should be lightweight, durable, and scaled to what they can comfortably carry. It is best to pack items in clear, ziplock bags within the backpack to keep them waterproof and organized.

1. Sustenance & HydrationWater: At least 2 small, durable bottles of drinking water.

Non-Perishable Snacks: High-energy, easy-to-open snacks (e.g., biscuits, granola bars, or vacuum-sealed snacks). Avoid snacks that melt or cause extreme thirst.

2. Safety & Communication Tools
Whistle: A loud, emergency whistle (crucial for signaling location if trapped or separated).

Mini Flashlight: A small LED flashlight or heavy-duty glow sticks (include fresh batteries if using a flashlight).

Emergency ID Card: A laminated card placed in an outer pocket containing:

Student’s full name, grade, and section.

Parents' names and active contact numbers.

Any critical medical details (blood type, allergies, conditions).

3. Health & Hygiene
First Aid Essentials: A small pouch with medical tape, band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and a small tube of burn ointment.

Personal Medications: A 3-day supply of any required maintenance medicine, clearly labeled with instructions.

Hygiene Kit: Wet wipes, tissue pack, a small bottle of rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer, and a spare face mask.

4. Comfort & Protection
Lightweight Poncho: A compact, fold-up raincoat.

Change of Clothes: A spare shirt, underwear, and socks packed inside a sealed plastic bag.

Comfort Item: For younger students (Preschool to lower Elementary), a small toy, family photo, or notebook can offer vital emotional comfort during stressful situations.

Storage Tip: Please label the exterior of the bag clearly with your child's full name and section using a permanent marker. The PMS DRRM committee will conduct a dry run/drill to ensure every student knows exactly what to do in case of emergencies.
