Rooting for you, Coach Raymond Paris Cabuco!

From Baguio to Mr. World: Raymond Cabuco steps onto the national stage

At 24, Raymond Paris P. Cabuco carries himself with the calm confidence of someone who knows exactly where he comes from.

Born and raised in Baguio City, the University of Baguio tourism graduate grew up in a place where talent is common, but discipline is what usually sets people apart. Friends describe him as athletic, grounded, and soft-spoken. Onstage, however, he transforms into someone commanding enough to compete for one of the countryโ€™s biggest male pageant titles: Mr. World Philippines 2026.

But beyond the tailored suits, fitness challenges, and polished smiles, Cabuco says he joined the competition for something more personal.

โ€œI believe I have a purpose bigger than myself,โ€ he said.

That purpose is rooted in music.

Often described as the male counterpart of Miss World, Mr. World goes beyond physical appearance. Contestants are tested in sports, fitness, talent, communication skills, personality, and advocacy work.

For Cabuco, that advocacy is โ€œHarmony With Hope,โ€ a youth-centered project that promotes music as a tool for healing, connection, and self-expression.

โ€œMusic has the power to heal, inspire, and bring people together despite our differences,โ€ he said. โ€œThrough every melody and every voice, young people are given the courage to express who they are.โ€

His advocacy, Thank You for the Music: A Philippine Journey from Baguio to the World, encourages young people to use music as an outlet for growth and hope.

It is also an advocacy that feels naturally tied to Baguio, a city of buskers on Session Road, school bands, indie musicians, and young creatives still trying to find their voice in a noisy world.

Cabuco graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Tourism from the University of Baguio. He first gained attention after finishing first runner-up in Mr. SIHTM UB 2024 before eventually winning Mr. HRAB 2025.

Outside pageantry, he spends much of his time around sports and outdoor activities, including lawn tennis, pickleball, basketball, hiking, and fitness training.

That athletic background matters in Mr. World Philippines, where candidates undergo physically demanding fast-track challenges involving endurance, sports, modeling, and public speaking.

But modern male pageantry now asks for more than physique alone.

Candidates are expected to speak with substance, represent advocacies sincerely, and connect with communities beyond the stage lights.

โ€œIt matters because people need representation, inspiration, and voices that spark change,โ€ Cabuco said. โ€œInfluence can go beyond appearance. It can uplift, connect, and empower.

The Philippines has steadily built a strong reputation in international male pageantry.

Andrew James Wolff placed first runner-up at Mr. World 2012, while Jody Baines Saliba reached the Top 12 in Mr. World 2019 and won the Asia and Oceania title. More recently, Filipino-German model Kirk Bondad entered the Top 20 at Mr. World 2024 before later winning Mister International 2025.

These performances helped strengthen the countryโ€™s standing in global male pageantry, where candidates are increasingly judged not just for appearance, but also for leadership, discipline, and social impact.

Under ALV Pageant Circle, Mr. World Philippines continues to search for candidates who embody those qualities.

For Cabuco, representing Baguio on that stage already carries meaning.

In a city known for creativity, resilience, and quiet ambition, he hopes his journey reminds young people that purpose can grow from something as simple, and as powerful, as music.

โ€œThrough Mr. World, I hope to turn my passion into impact,โ€ he said. โ€œWhen we use our talents with purpose, we can empower others and create meaningful change.โ€

The Mr. World Philippines 2026 coronation night will be held on June 21, 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
