Last Wednesday, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, our community took a vital step toward building a more empathetic and inclusive community. We successfully held "𝙎𝙋𝙀𝘾𝙏𝙍𝙐𝙈𝙎: 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙖𝙥 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝘿𝙮𝙨𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙" at the UC Auditorium.

The journey to aligning who we are on the inside with how the world perceives us is one of the most profound, complex, and deeply personal paths a person can walk. For many individuals, navigating gender dysphoria involves facing not just internal hurdles, but also a society that often lacks the vocabulary, understanding, or empathy to truly see them.

With this year's theme, '𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗦: 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗽 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝘆𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱', it is time to replace misconceptions with education, and isolation with community. We aim to foster genuine empathy, break down societal barriers, and build a campus environment rooted in unconditional support and respect for all identities.

The community of 𝑩𝒂-𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏, 𝑻𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒚 came together on 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, for a meaningful step forward in youth empowerment: the 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫, held as part of the ongoing community orientation program.

The session was facilitated by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧 𝐒. 𝐃𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐚, a Registered Psychometrician with extensive experience in psychological assessment, psychoeducational interventions, and mental health program coordination across university, clinical, and community settings. Currently serving as a 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐬, she brings with her a background rooted in counseling, student well-being, and advocacy for accessible mental health services.

The seminar opened conversations on mental health in a community context, fostering 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂 𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒂-𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏. It reinforced that mental health is not a private concern but a 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 — one that begins in the community and grows through dialogue, education, and care for one another.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝟑 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝟏𝟎 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, this seminar reflects the commitment to ensuring that mental health resources and awareness reach every corner of the community, regardless of geography or circumstance. On 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the third-year Behavioral Science students gathered at the 𝗨𝗖 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 for their 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆.
