Patda is what we call our simple embroidery in Benguet. The symbols for mountains and stars are usually seen on the female native attire, mostly those of the Benguet Kankanaey. According to records, and as told by my teacher and cultural master for patda Basilisa Lim, patda started in Kapangan by Rose Fianza.
Making several items incorporating our patda. Before I applied this in a more contemporary way, I made sure to ask Auntie Lisa if it was okay, and she said yes. To other Benguet aunties and lolas, though, they are very particular about following cultural protocol versus other tribes in the Cordillera.

Used different shades of colored thread available in my supply box. Inspired by our Benguet traditional pattern, the output's color combination reminds me of my grandmother's Ilocos inabel beddings when I was young. A welcome surprise.

I'm finding my way again and making time to create. It feels good to have started, even with the misses. I'm excited and scared at the same time to execute the ideas that have been kept in that "to-make" drawer of mine. I feel rusty, but I hope to keep going. Just create, self.
