Bakakeng National High School successfully conducted its First General Parents-Teachers Association (GPTA) Meeting and Parents' Forum, bringing together parents, teachers, school officials, and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in promoting the welfare, safety, and holistic development of learners.
The activity commenced with an orientation on the Three-Term School Calendar led by Mrs. April Lorraine A. Verdejo, Master Teacher II, who provided parents with important information regarding the academic schedule and key school activities for the school year.
Parents also gained valuable insights on environmental responsibility through a discussion on the Circular Economy facilitated by Mrs. Mary Ann Cho, Science Teacher. The session emphasized sustainable practices and the importance of responsible resource management in the community.
To promote a safe and nurturing learning environment, Mr. Babstil Balang, Values Education Teacher, oriented parents on the school's Anti-Bullying Program, highlighting the shared responsibility of parents, teachers, and learners in preventing bullying and fostering respect among students.
The forum likewise featured Kagawad David Pitok, School Governance Council (SGC) President, who discussed the Anti-Smoking City Ordinance and its significance in protecting the health and well-being of young people.
Strengthening community safety efforts, Kagawad Precy Kingeo shared information regarding the implementation of random inspections (kapkap) in coordination with Baguio City Police Station 10, aimed at ensuring the security of learners and the school community.
Meanwhile, GPTA secretary, Ms. Estrellita Ananayo, thoroughly explained the school's policies and guidelines, helping parents better understand the expectations and standards that support effective school operations and student discipline.
School Head, Dr. Rosalia Ocyaden also discussed DepEd's Project KAGAPAY, a program designed to strengthen partnerships among schools, family and community, and local government units in supporting learners' academic success and overall well-being.
After the general assembly, parents proceeded to their children's respective class sections for the homeroom PTA meeting where they were oriented about specific curricular updates, and elected their homeroom PTA officers.
The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to all parents and stakeholders who attended and actively participated in the forum. Through strong collaboration and shared commitment, Bakakeng National High School continues to build a supportive and empowering environment for every learner.
