IUU Fishing presents a threat to the food security of local communities, vulnerable marine ecosystems, undermine local and regional efforts that promote sustainable fishing practices and the livelihood of people that depend on the oceans.
Let us be reminded that the ocean is one of our vital life support systems that provide food resources for millions of people. Promoting sustainable science-backed fishing practices help us protect the vulnerable marine habitats and preserve food resources for generations to come.
