JAKARTA, INDONESIA โ City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCdO) has taken another significant step toward strengthening its global presence after formalizing a strategic partnership with Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Pacific, represented by Ms. Julie McMahon, Vice President for THE Asia Pacific, during high-level engagements.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was formally signed by Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, College President III of City College of Cagayan de Oro, and Ms. Julie McMahon, on behalf of Times Higher Education Asia Pacific. The signing was witnessed by Ms. Ines Gonzales, THE Asia Pacific Representative to the Philippines and Australia, and Dr. Donna Grace Cotejo, Director for Internationalization of City College of Cagayan de Oro, underscoring both institutions' shared commitment to expanding meaningful global partnerships.
The collaboration establishes a framework for long-term cooperation aimed at advancing institutional excellence, sustainability, internationalization, and global engagement. Through the partnership, both institutions will work together to explore initiatives that strengthen higher education's contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while expanding opportunities for international collaboration.
Among the key areas of cooperation are sustainability reporting and benchmarking, research partnerships, international academic engagements, knowledge exchange, and participation in global sustainability initiatives that enhance institutional capacity and international visibility. The partnership also supports CCCdO's continuing efforts to strengthen its performance in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and align its institutional initiatives with internationally recognized sustainability frameworks.
As part of the collaboration, City College of Cagayan de Oro commits to promoting sustainability across its academic, research, extension, and governance functions while expanding partnerships with universities and organizations worldwide. The College likewise aims to further improve its sustainability impact and global competitiveness through evidence-based practices and meaningful international engagement.
For its part, Times Higher Education (THE) will serve as a strategic partner in supporting City College of Cagayan de Oro's internationalization and sustainability agenda by providing access to global university networks, sustainability experts, benchmarking tools, institutional insights, and capacity-building opportunities.
THE will also offer guidance on sustainability reporting, impact rankings performance, and international best practices while facilitating collaborations that strengthen the College's research, academic, and global engagement initiatives in pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

JAKARTA, Indonesia โ Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, Founding President of the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCdO), formally received the institutionโs latest global sustainability ranking during the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026, which began on June 22 and will culminate on June 25, 2026.
CCCdO recorded a significant leap in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, advancing from the 1001โ1500 band in 2025 to the 801โ1000 band globally in 2026. The achievement places the college among Region Xโs top-performing higher education institutions in sustainability and contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Based on data released by CHED, CCCdO ranked third among Region X higher education institutions included in the 2026 THE Impact Rankings, following Mindanao State UniversityโIligan Institute of Technology and Misamis University.
The recognition was presented during GSDC 2026, a global gathering of university leaders, policymakers, researchers, industry experts, and sustainability advocates focused on advancing sustainable development worldwide.
Dr. Babia credited the milestone to the unwavering support of the local government of Cagayan de Oro, particularly City Mayor Rolando โKlarexโ Uy and Councilor Jing โAmajingโ Daba, for their commitment to strengthening higher education and institutional growth.

On June 22โ23, 2026, the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCdO) gathered its administrators, faculty, and staff members for the Midyear Evaluation cm Synergy Summit (MYESS) 2026, held at Apple Tree Resort & Hotel, Opol, Misamis Oriental, reaffirming its commitment to quality assurance, strategic growth, and organizational excellence.
The two-day summit served as a vital platform for assessing institutional performance, aligning priorities, and setting the direction for the remainder of the year. Anchored on the pursuit of continuous improvement, the event brought together key stakeholders in a collaborative effort to strengthen systems, enhance accountability, and advance the collegeโs strategic goals.
Day one focused on performance evaluation and accomplishment review, beginning with a comprehensive discussion of the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) facilitated by Ms. Bernadette Ann R. Paalam. The session underscored the importance of aligning individual and departmental performance with the collegeโs overall mission and objectives.
Major institutional clustersโincluding the Administration, ESDS, OSAS, RITTS, Academics, and the Office of the Presidentโpresented their Department Performance Commitment and Review (DPCR) accomplishments. Each presentation was followed by constructive discussions and critiquing sessions, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making.
Building on the gains of the first day, the second day shifted toward strategic planning and organizational development. Participants were introduced to the collegeโs new organizational structure and policy on tenureship, both designed to strengthen institutional stability, promote professional growth, and support long-term sustainability.
The summit culminated in cluster-based strategic planning workshops, where participants conducted SWOT analyses and identified priority targets for July to December 2026. These plans were subsequently presented in a plenary session, allowing for collective feedback and ensuring alignment with the collegeโs institutional direction toward 2027.
More than a performance review exercise, MYESS 2026 served as a strategic convergence of ideas, insights, and shared commitments. By combining rigorous evaluation with forward-looking planning, CCCdO continues to reinforce a culture of excellence and innovation in its pursuit of delivering quality education and meaningful service to the community.

On June 20, 2026, the City College of Cagayan de Oro, through the Extension and Outreach Office (EOO) in partnership with the Physical Plant Services (PPS) and the National Service Training Program (NSTP), successfully conducted the Brigadanihan 2026, a campus-wide initiative aimed at preparing the institution for the opening of the new school year.
The activity brought together faculty members, non-teaching personnel, students, volunteers, and community partners in a collective effort to create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming learning environment.

More than a campus clean-up drive, Brigadanihan 2026 served as a testament to the spirit of bayanihan, demonstrating how collaboration among stakeholders can help build a learning community that is safe, organized, and ready to welcome students for another productive academic year.
