May 15, 2026 โ The PPSA delegation had the opportunity to explore the ๐ ๐๐๐ถ๐๐บ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ป๐ท๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ in Melaka, Malaysia.
Under the guidance of ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, Officer of the Safety/Development/Training Unit, they explored exhibits tracing the historical development of the Malaysian prison system, from its early custodial practices to the adoption of modern, rehabilitation-oriented correctional models. Through archival displays, reconstructed cells, and narratives of institutional reforms, the cadets gained a deeper appreciation of how policy shifts, human rights standards, and community-based approaches have shaped contemporary correctional practices.
Collectively, this engagement significantly enriched the cadetsโ academic learning by providing direct exposure to the historical foundations of modern corrections, inspiring them to contribute to a more progressive corrections framework in the Philippines.

May 15, 2026 โ The PPSA delegation had the opportunity to further deepen their understanding of the MPD through a study visit to ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ธ๐ผ๐น๐ฎ๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐ in Telok Mas, Melaka, Malaysia.
The delegates were warmly welcomed by Assistant Commissioner of Prisons, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, Director, who graciously accommodated the cadets and facilitated a comprehensive tour of the institution. During the visit, the cadets were introduced to the facilityโs structured correctional phases, which reflect a systematic and rehabilitative approach in managing juveniles in conflict with the lawโfocusing not only on custody but, more importantly, on behavioral development, discipline, skills training, and preparation for their eventual return to society.
The cadets gained valuable insights into the institutionโs best practices in promoting reformation and reintegration through education, vocational activities, and character-building programs. Adding to the meaningful experience, they were treated to a special lunch where both personnel and juvenile residents showcased their talents, highlighting the positive environment, creativity, and morale nurtured within the facility.

May 18, 2026 | The Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) joined the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony hosted by the National Forensic Science Training Institute (NFSTI) at NFSTI Compound, Camp Vicente Lim, Brgy. Mayapa, Calamba City, Laguna.
The keynote speaker, JO1 Vernalyn P Marquez, emphasized that unity remains the strongest weapon of every unit in overcoming the struggles and challenges public servants face in the performance of their duties each day.
She further reminded everyone that they are more than public servants โ they are protectors of order, defenders of dignity, and builders of second chances. Through unity and resilience, they can rise above every challenge, proving that resilience is not only reflected in what they do, but in who they are.

May 16, 2026 โ The Philippine Public Safety Academy successfully conducted the first-ever ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, an initiative designed to introduce children to the fundamental rules, skills, and proper techniques of various sports while promoting physical fitness, and discipline.
More than developing athletic ability, the clinic aimed to instill essential values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance among the youth. The activity was graced by ๐๐ซ. ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ณ, Vice President of Camp Vicente Lim Neighborhood Association Inc., who delivered an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of sports in shaping discipline, character, and dreams among children.
Participants took part in rotational training sessions featuring Arnis, Basketball, Football, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball. Beyond teaching sports, the activity served as a meaningful platform for molding future leaders and responsible members of the community through the lessons and values gained both on and off the playing field.

The activity provided meaningful insights into Malaysiaโs correctional system and introduced innovative perspectives that can further strengthen correctional and rehabilitation practices in the Philippines.
During the morning session, ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ delivered a lecture on staff training in the MPD, highlighting the departmentโs training ecosystem and strategic leadership development initiatives for correctional personnel, with ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, the Senior Assistant Commissioner of MPC, joining the session to underscore the importance of this collaboration.
In turn, PPSA officers engaged in knowledge-sharing discussions with personnel and cadets of the MPD and Malaysian Prison College. ๐

Meanwhile, ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ discussed the BJMP uniform and the mandatory training programs for BJMP personnel. They were also acquainted with the daily life and activities of cadets inside the Academy through a series of audio-visual presentations, further deepening their understanding of PPSAโs training environment. The message reminded all cadets that generosity should extend not only to others but also to themselves through rest, self-understanding, and balance. Everyone was encouraged to carry the spirit of generosity within the academy and beyond by serving others without losing themselves in the process.
