Among the night's brightest highlights was the presentation of the Mayor’s Special Award by the Honorable Mayor Cindi Chan and the Honorable Congressman Ahong Chan to a number of personalities, including Atty. Augusto W. Go, in recognition of his extraordinary dedication to the city’s progress!

Accepting this prestigious honor on behalf of Chairman Gus were Mr. Rudy Aviles (UC Cultural and Marketing Director) and Dr. Yolanda C. Sayson (UC Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs).

LOOK: UC WorldSkills gold medalists advance to nationals

Fresh from their gold medal victories in the TESDA VII WorldSkills Competition 2026 held on June 4-6, four University of Cebu students will advance to the TESDA National WorldSkills Competition this August to represent Region VII and the university.

The qualifiers were Alexandre Paquibot in Artificial Intelligence, John Paul Singco in ICT Network Infrastructure, Trixette Rain Montallana in Software Applications Development, and Ralph Commandante in Web Technologies. They were coached by Dr. Rasty Demecillo, Engr. Jeff P. Salimbangon, Engr. Dennis Durano, and Dr. Neil Basabe, respectively.

The team paid a courtesy visit to UC Chairman Atty. Augusto W. Go on June 9 at the President’s Office, UC Main.

A TESDA Housekeeping NC II Scholarship is available for qualified applicants. Former OFWs are encouraged to apply.

Benefits may include:
-Free training

-Allowance (depending on the scholarship program)
-National Certificate (NC II) upon successful assessment

Typical requirements include the following:
-PSA Birth Certificate
-Educational records (Diploma, Form 137, or TOR)
Valid ID

Former OFWs are generally eligible for many TESDA scholarship programs, even if they are no longer active OWWA members, provided they meet the specific requirements of the scholarship being offered.
