Mentored by Dr. William Jr. Tiu, these Computer Science students emerged as the 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟏 Winner in the Life Sciences and Digital Health Cluster of the Swiss Innovation Prize Competition 2026 out of 141 teams nationwide.

Their winning innovation, 𝙎𝙏𝙀𝙈𝙄𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙬 — an AI-assisted emergency referral and smart triage platform for severe heart attack cases — was designed to help healthcare providers make faster, smarter, and more coordinated decisions during life-threatening emergencies.

Because in critical moments, every minute matters.

Representing Cebu Institute of Technology - University, the team presented a technology-driven solution that addresses real gaps in emergency cardiovascular care in the Philippines during the national innovation competition organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.

Beyond winning the championship and the PHP 100,000 cash prize, the team also participated in a three-day Swiss innovation immersion with leading global companies and the Swiss diplomatic community — gaining exposure to healthcare innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and international collaboration.

To qualify, the applicant must be a Senior High School (SHS) graduate with at least High Honors upon graduation and must be among any of the following:

⏺️Top 10 graduates of Cebu Institute of Technology – University Senior High School, Philippine Science High Schools, Cebu City National Science High School, Minglanilla Science High School, or any other schools that may be approved by management
⏺️Top 5 graduates of any Senior High School with at least 500 graduates
⏺️Top 3 graduates of any Senior High School with at least 100 graduates
⏺️New DOST scholars who are also among the Top 10 graduates of their graduating batch

To apply, enrolled student must bring a certification of graduation honors (with official seal) from the SHS principal indicating the honors received, overall ranking, and the total number of graduates of the SHS batch. Then visit the Office of Admissions and Scholarships (OAS) to be assisted.

Essential services, however, will continue:

⏺️𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: The Enrollment Express Hub and Admissions Office will process applications and payments both on-site and through official online channels.
⏺️𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Cashier counters will remain open for in‑person transactions.
⏺️𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: Student‑facing services requiring physical presence will be available as needed; classes and student activities will not be held on campus on Mondays.

Class schedules for Mondays will be managed by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs; students will receive guidance through official channels. Faculty and staff will follow flexible work arrangements to ensure continuous support while meeting the standard weekly work requirements.

This arrangement is temporary and may be adjusted as needed. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we adapt to these circumstances. Please monitor your official University communications for further updates.
