A nation's story is written not only in the pages of history, but also in the choices of those who inherit it.

This 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙮, we remember that freedom is more than a moment won on June 12, 1898—it is a legacy carried through generations.

Giving light to this year's theme: “𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐚𝐧, 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧, 𝐊𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧” (𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦, 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲) echoes in the voices that refuse to be silenced, in the dreams that dare to imagine a better tomorrow, and in the hands that continue to shape the future of our country.

As we honor our past, let us also recognize our role as authors of the next chapter. The struggles, triumphs, and sacrifices that define our history are not distant memories; they are reminders that the future we seek is built upon the freedoms we choose to protect today.

For a nation that remembers its history is a nation that knows where it has been, understands where it stands, and dares to envision where it can go.

This June 12, may we celebrate not only the freedom we inherited, but also the future we are called to create.

𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐒 🌈📖

“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭.”
— Beyoncé, Renaissance - “Break My Soul”

At its core, 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 celebrates freedom, self-expression, and the courage to exist unapologetically. It reminds us that there is power in embracing who we are, even in spaces that may not always understand us.

Literature has long explored the same ideas. Through stories, poems, and voices across time and space, readers are invited to witness different experiences, and also reflect on the community they help shape.

For this year’s 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 literary spotlight, we feature 𝙐𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙙 by Singaporean poet 𝐂𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐠. With his surreal and striking imagery, the poem looks at a world where love is met with shock, resistance, and misunderstanding, while implying whether the problem lies in love itself or in society’s response to it.

𝙐𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙙 is more than about identity, it is also a reflection on acceptance, authenticity, and the desire to exist without having to justify one’s place in the world.

As you read, we invite you to reflect on the same question the poem leaves behind:

The English Fellows Organization (EFO) proudly participated in the 𝐂𝐓𝐑𝐋+𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇: 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍’𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 – 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, held last May 30, 2026, at the DepEd Ecotech Center, Cebu City, Cebu. A meaningful gathering that empowered young leaders to take an active role in shaping a safer, smarter, and more resilient digital future.

A nationwide youth consultation initiative spearheaded by Tayo ang Taya (TAYA) in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in preparation for the Philippines’ ASEAN 2026 Chairship. Today's youth are called to be more than just spectators in the digital world. Through discussions on digital literacy, responsible social media management, online safety, and digital resilience, participants gained valuable insights on navigating technology responsibly and combating emerging digital threats.

Technology is no longer just a tool—it is a vital part of everyday life. With knowledge, awareness, and active participation, young people can help build a digital environment that is safe, innovative, and inclusive for today’s use and future generations. 💡

The English Fellows Organization extends its gratitude to the Tayo ang Taya (TAYA) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for producing and facilitating this impactful initiative, and for creating a platform where youth voices contribute to the future of ASEAN's digital landscape.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫. 📖✨

The English Fellows Organization (EFO) officially opened another academic year of leadership, service, and collaboration through its 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 held last May 25, 2026, at the College of Teacher Education Building, Room 305. Guided by the vision and leadership of the EFO Mayor, Hon. Bea Pauline D. Abarcar, the organization gathered to start plotting the direction of the Academic Year 2026-2027.

The meeting centered on the 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 which are expected to shape the year ahead. Proposed initiatives such as EFreshies Day, EFO Team Building, Phantom Days, ESOL 2027, organizational merchandise releases, literacy-centered events, and other student-centered initiatives were introduced as part of the organization’s long-term vision for its constituents.

Alongside the plotting of activities, the organization also conducted the 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐅𝐎 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to further strengthen its structure, responsibilities, and direction. Discussions regarding standing committees, organizational matters, and possible external partnerships were likewise raised to ensure a more organized, cooperative, and efficient academic year ahead.

This meeting marks the beginning of new ideas, stronger collaboration, and a clearer vision for what the EFO aims to become, with its officers working together toward a shared purpose.

The English Fellows Organization proudly celebrates its former mayor, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗡𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, for winning the 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 at the 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔!🏆✨

Representing Cordova alongside five other delegates, she spent an intensive four days collaborating with young leaders across the province. Organized by the CPYDO, the summit focused on local governance, project management, and leadership passion.

Out of all the changemakers present from different municipalities, she earned one of the four signature ABTIK distinctions. This recognition highlights her relentless work ethic and her natural ability to lead by example, proving that a true EFellow makes an impact far beyond university walls.

This symbolic transition honors the outgoing officers whose dedication, leadership, and passion became the guiding light of the organization throughout their term. Coming together in a meaningful meet for the official passing of the torch, the previous officers were present to personally pass on the flame, celebrating their shared journey while warmly welcoming the newly elected officers into their roles. Their commitment did not only shape successful events and milestones, but also strengthened the bond that unites every EFellow as one community. 🌿

As the torch is entrusted to a new generation of leaders, may they continue to carry the flame with integrity, purpose, and vision. May they lead not only with excellence, but also with compassion and service for the betterment of the organization and its members. 💚🩵
