Cebu City, June 1, 2026 — The Basic Education Department (BED) of the University of San Jose–Recoletos officially commenced its In-Service Training (INSET) 2026 with a Holy Mass celebrated earlier today at the University of San Jose–Recoletos Basak Auditorium.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jorge D. Peligro, OAR, who delivered an inspiring homily emphasizing the value of time and the essential qualities that every Josenian should embody: a sense of self, a sense of others, a sense of purpose, urgency, and sacrifice.

Drawing from the theme of personal and professional growth, Fr. Peligro encouraged the educators to remain grounded in their mission as teachers. He shared a meaningful reflection: “A tree that wants to reach the sky has to grow its roots deep down below.” The message underscored the importance of strong values, humility, and commitment as foundations for achieving excellence.

As the department embarks on this year’s training, educators are encouraged to embrace lifelong learning and continue nurturing the minds and hearts of their students in the true spirit of being Josenian educators.

USJ-R BASAK | The University of San Jose-Recoletos Basak Campus will host Project PEPA: Patuloy na Edukasyon, Patuloy na Pag-ahon on April 30, 2026.

In line with this, onsite services at the campus will temporarily shift to online delivery. The onsite services will resume on May 2, 2026.

Project PEPA is an education caravan for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, jointly implemented by CHED, DepEd, and TESDA. It aims to bridge the education access gap by bringing information on government-funded scholarships, subsidies, and learning opportunities directly to low-income families.

Conducted nationwide from February to May 2026, the caravan guides students and parents on available education pathways, application processes, and eligibility requirements. The initiative ensures that marginalized sectors receive timely and accurate information to help them make informed educational choices.
