๐ข Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill | June 18, 2026 ๐๐จ
Today, the learners, teachers, and staff of Datu Usman Elementary School actively participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). Through the proper ex*****on of the โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ procedure and orderly evacuation practices, our school community strengthened its preparedness and awareness in responding to earthquake emergencies.
Safety is everyoneโs responsibility. By practicing today, we are building a culture of readiness that can help save lives during actual disasters.

๐ต๐ญ FIRST FLAG RAISING CEREMONY AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE ๐ต๐ญ
With gratitude to Allah( S.W.T) and renewed strength as a school community, Datu Usman Elementary School successfully conducted its first Flag Raising Ceremony for SY 2026-2027 following the recent earthquake, marking a significant step toward recovery and the resumption of normal school operations.
During the ceremony, School Principal Maryam U. Lauban reminded learners, teachers, and parents to remain vigilant and always prioritize safety amid the continuing aftershocks and uncertainties brought by the recent disaster. She emphasized the importance of preparedness, cooperation, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of everyone in the school community.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jericho C. Benting, School Guidance Coordinator, formally introduced the teaching staff to the learners and parents, fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere as classes resume. The introduction aimed to strengthen the connection between the school, learners, and stakeholders, promoting a collaborative learning environment.
In addition, Assistant School Principal Zingzing A. Edzela reiterated the schoolโs policies, rules, and expectations to guide learners in maintaining discipline, responsibility, and respect within the school premises. She also encouraged everyone to work together in creating a safe, orderly, and conducive environment for learning.
The ceremony served not only as a patriotic gathering but also as a reminder of the strength, resilience, and unity of the Datu Usman Elementary School community in overcoming challenges and moving forward together.

In response to the recent earthquake, personnel from the City Engineerโs Office conducted a thorough post-earthquake structural inspection of the facilities at Datu Usman Elementary School.
The inspection aimed to assess the condition and safety of school buildings, classrooms, and other facilities to ensure that they remain structurally sound and safe for use by learners, teachers, and school personnel. This initiative forms part of the cityโs commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the school community and ensuring that learning environments meet safety standards before the resumption of regular classes.

PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID (PFA) FOR TEACHERS AND LEARNERS
In response to the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake that affected many communities in Mindanao, Datu Usman Elementary School conducted a Psychological First Aid (PFA) Session for its teaching personnel in compliance with the memorandum issued by the Schools Division Office of Cotabato City (SDOCC). The activity aims to equip teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide emotional and psychological support to learners who may have been affected by the traumatic event.
The School PFA session was spearheaded by the School DRRM Coordinator, Maโam Chona Manera, who guided the teachers in understanding stress reactions, coping mechanisms, and appropriate interventions to help learners regain a sense of safety, calmness, and normalcy following the earthquake.
Through this initiative, teachers are better prepared to extend Psychological First Aid to pupils, ensuring that their emotional well-being is addressed alongside their academic needs. The school remains committed to creating a safe, supportive, and resilient learning environment for all learners during this challenging time.

๐ข DATU USMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADVISORY ๐ข
CLASSES RESUME TOMORROW, JUNE 10, 2026
In line with the announcement of the City Government of Cotabato and pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. HR No. 26-135 issued by City Mayor Mohammad Ali C. Matabalao, classes in all public and private schools in Cotabato City shall resume effective immediately.
Following the initial structural and safety assessments conducted by the Office of the City Engineer, CDRRMO, BFP, and other concerned agencies, school buildings have been found safe and fit for occupancy and the conduct of classes.
Accordingly, Datu Usman Elementary School will resume regular classes on June 10, 2026 (Wednesday). All learners, teachers, and school personnel are advised to report to school and continue observing safety precautions.
The school will continue to coordinate with concerned agencies as further monitoring and validation activities are being conducted to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone.
