The Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO) recently conducted a coordination meeting with the IT Officers and key personnel from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) and the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS).

Headed by the Chief of the Planning and Capacity Building Division, Mr. Norodin T. Intia, LPT, MPA, MSc.IT, and the Head of the Capacity Building Section, Mrs. Normina G. Adza, MSc.IT, alongside dedicated BICTO staff, the discussion centered on the ministries' existing operational systems and their Information Systems Strategic Plan (ISSP) status. The teams also explored future software requirements tailored to the unique needs of each office.

This data-gathering initiative aims to map out both existing and non-existing software solutions within the BARMM ministries. Moving forward, these identified gaps will be endorsed to local academic institutions offering IT courses. By aligning actual ministry needs with upcoming student capstone projects, this initiative bridges the gap between education and governance—empowering the next generation of IT professionals to build real-world solutions that help our ministries mitigate operational challenges.

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 𝐁𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐎 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

Harnessing the power of digital tools to enhance public service and education, the Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO), through its Capacity Building Section, successfully conducted a two-day Digital Literacy Training on Google Workspace for Public Personnel and Educators last May 13–14, 2026.

Held at the BICTO ICT Literacy and e-Governance Training Center Alnor Bldg in Cotabato City, the intensive workshop gathered 25 dedicated participants from the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Cotabato City.

The program commenced with an inspiring message from BICTO Executive Director Jonathan M. Mantikayan, PhD.IT, who emphasized that mastering digital platforms is no longer just an advantage but a necessity. He noted that the training is vital for increasing productivity and efficiency, benefiting both the workplace and the students they serve.

In a show of strong institutional partnership, Schools Division Superintendent of Cotabato City, Dr. Bai Rojana M. Sinsuat joined the session to deliver a message of support. She highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating:

To set the stage, Mrs. Normina G. Adza, MSc.IT, Head of the Capacity Building Section, shared the rationale behind the program, welcoming the participants to a journey of digital transformation.

Under the expert guidance of Resource Person Ms. Cashmere A. Alon, LPT, the educators dived deep into the Google Workspace ecosystem. The comprehensive curriculum covered, Gmail Mastery, an advanced organization, professional email signatures, and inbox management. Cloud Collaboration for maximizing Google Drive for secure storage. Productivity Tools a hands-on sessions with Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms. Time Management for leveraging Google Calendar for seamless scheduling.

Every session was paired with practical activities, ensuring that participants didn't just listen but actively applied their new skills in real-time. The training concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony. Special recognition was given to the participant with the "Most Organized Output," as well as the top three performers in the Mentimeter recap icebreaker challenge.

As the participants shared their takeaways, a common theme emerged: a renewed sense of confidence in using technology to bridge gaps in the classroom and the office. BICTO remains committed to bridging the digital divide, one training at a time.
