𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 2026

The Research Center successfully conducted the Student Research Symposium on June 4, 2026, at Bulwagang Hardin Inter-disciplinary Research Building. The activity provided a platform for young researchers to present their studies, engage in scholarly discussions, and further develop their research competencies.

The program commenced with Mr. Mark Jayvee M. Mojica, Head of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division, formally introducing Dr. Jeshurun Asher M. Tarun, a Balik Scientist, who delivered an insightful presentation on his research endeavors. During his discussion, he shared valuable perspectives, experiences, and practical advice aimed at inspiring and guiding aspiring researchers in their academic and research pursuits.

The program continued with the 3-Minute Presentation and Poster Presentation segments, during which participants showcased their research studies through concise, informative, and engaging presentations. The 3-Minute Presentation category was evaluated by Dr. Ruel M. Mojica, Dr. Jeshurun Asher M. Tarun, and Mr. Yves Roy M. Tibayan. These activities provided an avenue for students to demonstrate their ability to effectively communicate their research findings, methodologies, and key insights to a broader audience.

The event concluded with the awarding ceremony, recognizing the outstanding presentations and exemplary research outputs of the participants.

The Research Center conducted the Student Research Symposium on June 3, 2026, via Cisco Webex. The activity provided a platform for young researchers to present their studies, engage in academic discourse, and further develop their research skills and competencies.

The program opened with remarks delivered by Dr. Miriam D. Baltazar, Director of the Research Center. This was followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac. Subsequently, Mr. Mark Jayvee M. Mojica presented the symposium guidelines and mechanics.

The research presentations were organized into three categories, each assigned to designated breakout rooms: the Natural Science Category, Development Category, and the Social Sciences Category, facilitated by their respective panels of discussants and moderators.

Cavite State University warmly welcomes Dr. Jeshurun Asher M. Tarun, as a Balik Scientist!

During his courtesy visit, he was warmly received by University President Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro and Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension. Accompanying him as well were Dr. Miriam D. Baltazar, Director of the Research Center; Mr. Yves Roy M. Tibayan, Linkages Officer; and Mr. Jacob M. Gomez, Technical Services Head.

Dr. Tarun is a Filipino plant biotechnologist and crop scientist specializing in plant genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. He earned his Ph.D. in Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he also conducted postdoctoral research.

His engagement, funded by DOST-PCAARRD, will involve working closely with the University Research Center and the National Coffee Research, Development, and Extension Center. Through this, he will contribute to ongoing efforts of the University to strengthen research and support the country’s coffee sector.
