On the evening of ๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐, ๐๐๐๐, the PMMA Graduate School Student Councilโunder the dedicated leadership of its President, Ms. Reina B. Gamasanโsuccessfully hosted a festive ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ซ-๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ฒ at the ๐๐๐-๐๐๐ ๐
๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ. Carrying the elegant theme, โ๐จ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐พ๐๐๐๐: ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ฏ๐๐๐, ๐๐๐

๐๐ ๐ด๐๐๐๐,โ the celebration brought together the Graduate School community in an atmosphere of joy, unity, and gratitude.
With ๐๐ ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐๐๐ฌ composed of GS students, faculty members, staff, alumni and guests, and PMMA officials, the event served as a meaningful gathering where everyone could unwind, connect, and honor the collective accomplishments of 2025. The four-hour celebration provided a warm space for socializing, heartfelt exchanges, and shared appreciation of the yearโs milestones.
More than just a social gathering, the celebration underscored the camaraderie, dedication, and shared purpose that continue to strengthen the PMMA Graduate School. It also served as a moment to reflect on the achievements of the year and to look forward with optimism to the opportunities that 2026 will bring.

PMMA Graduate School Holds Its First Best Thesis Award Deliberation
The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy โ Graduate School (PMMA-GS) successfully held its first-ever Best Thesis Award Deliberation on October 10, 2025, at the NHQโPhilippine Coast Guard (PCG) Conference Room. The milestone event was spearheaded by Prof. Victoria Q. Paraggua, Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School, together with Prof. Ma. Nissa C. Espiritu, MSc, Assistant Dean, marking a significant step toward recognizing research excellence among Graduate School students.
Out of ten qualified graduating students, five presenters showcased their completed and/or published theses before a distinguished panel of evaluators.
Four of the presenters are active members of the Philippine Coast Guard, representing the Master of Science in Maritime Education and Training program, while one is a seafarer from a private maritime institution, representing the Master of Science in Shipping Management program. Three presented onsite, and two joined online, each allotted 30 minutes for presentation and Q&A.

After a rigorous evaluation process, Mr. Aloysius Gio P. Arranz was named the Best Thesis Awardee. His research stood out for its relevance to modern shipboard operations, analytical depth, and practical implications for maritime technology integration.
The PMMA Graduate School extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Arranz and all the presenters for their outstanding research contributions. The success of this first-ever deliberation signifies the Academyโs continuing pursuit of academic excellence and its dedication to strengthening the link between maritime education, research, and industry practice.
