🎬🇫🇷 The 28th French Film Festival Officially Opens in Cebu!🇵🇭
Last night, the Alliance Française de Cebu had the honour of welcoming Her Excellency Marie Fontanel, Ambassador of France to the Philippines and Micronesia, for the official opening of the 28th French Film Festival at SM City Cebu.
The ceremony was attended by Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival, Yim Jeanhyuk, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Cebu, Marissa Fernan, Vice President of SM Prime Holdings, Mathilde Séjourné, Cultural Counsellor of the French Embassy, Martin Macalintal, Cultural Attaché, Nicolas Facino, Executive Director of Alliance Française de Cebu, and numerous representatives of the diplomatic, cultural, academic and business communities.
The festival opened with the screening of Les Promesses (Promises), directed by Thomas Kruithof and starring the outstanding Isabelle Huppert. Through the story of a woman navigating the challenges of political leadership and public service, the film perfectly reflects one of this year's central themes: women’s voices, leadership and empowerment.
The celebration of French cinema continues until Sunday evening, with a programme designed for all audiences, featuring acclaimed dramas, family films and inspiring stories from contemporary French cinema.
The French Film Festival is organized by the Embassy of France to the Philippines and Micronesia, in partnership with SM City Cebu (Official) and the Alliance Française de Cebu.
We warmly thank our sponsors and partners for their invaluable support: SM City Cebu (Official), the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Film Development Council of the Philippines , Institut français INSTITUT FRANÇAIS , IF Cinéma, the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC), and Radisson Blu Cebu
🎥 Join us this weekend at SM City Cebu Cinema and discover the richness, creativity and diversity of French cinema.
