Hello Wild Hearts! Happy World Wildlife Day!

We celebrate this each year to commemorate the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973.

The theme for 2022 is "Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration".

According to the Convention on Biological Diversity (n.d.), the Philippines is one of the 18 mega-biodiverse countries in the world. It has 2/3 of the earth’s biodiversity and between 70% and 80% of the world’s plant and animal species.

What does this mean? The Philippines serves as a habitat to a lot of animals and plants of various species so let us all take part in the effort to protect these species.

NO to illegal wildlife trade!
NO to hunting and consumption of wild animals!
NO to deforestation and pollution and other forms of habitat destruction!
