A replica of a mango fruit weighing 3.5 kg was successfully reconstructed at the UPLB Fab Lab using 3D scanning and printing technology, with the assistance and hard work of Mr. Ronan Almeda and Mr. Adrian Balinas, our Fab Lab workers.

The original model of the NSIC-registered fruit was shattered accidentally, leading PCAARRD staff to contact the Fab Lab for assistance in fabricating a replacement. After a computer model and small physical models were generated, the final shape of the replica was developed in consultation with PCAARRD and IPB experts. The final version was turned over to PCAARRD on January 10, 2025.
