The English Plus Course for Kobe University students, conducted annually by the UPLB CAS LITE Program, is now officially underway!

As Batches 19 and 20 begin their three-week learning journey, we recognize the eight faculty-tutors who will facilitate the program’s key areas: Conversational Fluency & Vocabulary Building, and Pronunciation Improvement & Oral Presentation Skills. All of them carry TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certifications and are from the Department of Humanities. ✨🌏

In November 2025, the UPLB CAS LITE Program Administrative Team, represented by Program Manager and Dean Chrysline Margus Piñol and Coordinator Jerard Ancel Eusebio, visited Kobe University to conduct the pre-flight orientation for 30 incoming students of LITE's 2026 English Plus Course.

The session introduced UPLB, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the LITE Program, along with practical information about Los Baños and campus life. After this short lecture, breakout sessions commenced where students raised their questions and learned about their upcoming academic and cultural experience in the Philippines.

The visit also included one-on-one diagnostic interviews to help LITE tutors better understand the students’ English proficiency levels ahead of the program. The LITE team also had the honor of meeting with Kobe University faculty and officials, which include President Fujisawa Masato, Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences Dean, Dr. Yasuhito Shirai, and former English Plus Course graduates—including Dr. Soichiro Asuke (Batch 2), now an Assistant Professor at Kobe University.

The UPLB CAS LITE Program is excited to welcome the Kobe University students (Batch 19 & 20) later this month! 🇵🇭🇯🇵

We celebrate one of the most beloved LITE Program tutors as she retires from her post as a UPLB faculty member. Asst. Prof. Elizabeth M. Segura-Krueger leaves an indelible mark both in the hearts of her students and in the institutions and offices she has touched throughout her 11-year tenure at UPLB. The CAS LITE Program is honored to be a part of her academic journey.

Cheers to your new chapter, Ma'am Betsy! 🥂 Thank you for your outstanding service to UPLB and the nation. 💛💙
