The UPLB Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability (UPLB-TREES) participated in Philippine Woodmac 2026 held at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center on May 8, 2026.
As the country’s first national event dedicated exclusively to the wood and furniture industry, Philippine Woodmac 2026 brought together manufacturers, suppliers, researchers, innovators, and industry practitioners from across the value chain. The event highlighted current developments in woodworking technologies, engineered timber, sustainable materials, production systems, and emerging industry practices shaping the future of the sector in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
For UPLB-TREES, participation in events such as this forms part of its continuing commitment as a training, research, and extension center to remain connected with industry developments and real-world applications relevant to forestry and natural resource management. The conference and exhibits provided opportunities for learning, professional exchange, and engagement with technologies and innovations that support capacity building and technical training initiatives.
Among the highlights of the visit was the Technical Seminar series, which featured discussions on carbon-smart wood production, sustainable wood utilization, and advancements in processing technologies. The exhibits also offered firsthand exposure to modern woodworking machinery, tools, materials, and production systems currently being adopted across the industry.
Through activities such as these, TREES continues to strengthen its linkages with industry and institutional partners while supporting knowledge exchange and lifelong learning in the forestry and wood processing sectors.
