IT'S A WRAP FOR ! 🎉

From resilience to innovation, the 5th Southeast Asian Conference on Econutrition highlighted how research, education, technology, and communities work together to advance sustainable food and nutrition systems.

The day opened with a replay of the keynote message of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, followed by a recap of Day 1. We were also joined by members of the Society for Human Ecology (SHE), underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing food, nutrition, and sustainability challenges.

Today’s sessions focused on key dimensions of food systems transformation:

🌍 Plenary Session 4: Scaling Up Resilience featured digital health, data-driven governance, climate and disaster resilience, and community nutrition security across Southeast Asia.

🎓 Plenary Session 5: Higher Education & Econutrition highlighted strengthening food systems through education, research, and capacity building for future leaders.

🏡 Plenary Session 6: Human Ecology Perspectives showcased linking household well-being, food security, financial resilience, and sustainable development through a systems lens.

🍽️ Plenary Session 7: Food Innovation & Processing emphasized the potential of value-added processing, sustainable ingredients, and innovation for nutrition and food security.

Across all sessions, a common theme emerged: building resilient and sustainable food systems requires collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and communities.

We also commend Dionela and colleagues from UP Visayas for receiving the People's Choice Award and Best Poster Award in recognition of their outstanding research and engagement.

The conference concluded with closing remarks from Asst. Prof. Ann Cayetano-Bagabaldo, Co-chair for Nutrition of the Organizing Committee, emphasized collaboration among stakeholders, people-centered decision-making, systems thinking, and the need to move beyond dialogue into action—transforming knowledge into policies and programs for a healthier future for all.

As closes, we carry forward stronger partnerships, shared learning, and renewed commitment.

Together, let us transform knowledge into action and build food systems that nourish people, communities, and the planet.
