The College of Development Communication, University of the Philippines Los Baños conducted the Associate of Science in Development Communication (ASDC) Interview and Diagnostic Examination on 16 June 2026 at the Nora C. Quebral Hall, UPLB College of Development Communication.

The interview and diagnostic examination form part of the admissions process for incoming ASDC students for the First Semester of AY 2026–2027.

This year, the ASDC program received more than 400 applications, the highest number since the program was launched. Applicants from different regions of the country underwent interviews and completed the diagnostic examination as part of the selection process.

The ASDC program aims to equip aspiring development communicators with the knowledge and skills to use communication and media for planned social change. The program is offered by CDC in line with the University of the Philippines’ commitment to inclusive and accessible quality education.

Sa pagdiriwang natin ng Araw ng Kalayaan, nawa'y hindi lamang natin ipagdiwang ang kalayaang ipinaglaban ng ating mga bayani, kundi pagnilayan din kung papaano natin ginagamit ang kalayaang ito sa panahon ngayon.

Ang tunay na pagmamahal sa bayan ay hindi sa pagsuporta sa mga kulay at panig, kundi ang pagtindig para sa katotohanan at kabutihang ng mamayang Pilipino.

Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan!

Sa paggunita ng ika-128 na Araw ng Kalayaan, nakikiisa ang sa pag-alala sa pakikibaka at sakripisyong nagbigay daan sa ating kasarinlan bilang isang bansa.

Ngunit sa gitna ng patuloy na mga hamon sa pamamahala, pananagutan, at pagkakaisa, nananatiling mahalagang itanong: tunay nga ba tayong malaya kung marami pa ring tinig ang hindi naririnig, karapatang hindi ganap na naipagtatanggol, at mga nasa kapangyarihang hindi napananagot?

Nawa’y magsilbing paalala ang araw na ito na ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang pamana ng kasaysayan, kundi isang karapatang dapat matamasa ng bawat mamamayan at isang pananagutang dapat itaguyod ng lipunan at ng mga namumuno.

The College of Development Communication (CDC) participated in the 1st UP System Quality Assurance Conference held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on 8–9 June 2026.

With the theme, “Quality as Duty, Excellence as Legacy: Forging the Future of UP as the National University,” the conference brought together nearly 700 participants from UP’s constituent universities. Attendees engaged in discussions about fostering a QA culture and best practices from universities abroad and fellow UP CUs through plenary talks and breakout sessions.

As part of its commitment to quality and continuous improvement, CDC has undergone the ASEAN University Network–Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) assessment twice, making it one of the early academic units in the UP System to pursue international quality assurance certification.

Led by Dean Edmund G. Centeno, the CDC delegation was composed of the College’s QA officers and executive committee members.

Faculty members from the Department of Development Journalism (DDJ) represented the College of Development Communication (CDC) at the UP System General Education Conference held at UP Diliman on 4–5 June 2026.

As COMM 10 (Critical Perspectives in Communication) faculty, Asst. Prof. Miguel Victor T. Durian and Asst. Prof. Dara Clarisse Mae L. Barile, who also serves as course coordinator, joined other UPLB COMM 10 faculty members from the Department of Humanities (DHUM).

CDC joins the call for the careful reconsideration of the proposed reframing of the GE curriculum, particularly in ensuring that it remains responsive to contemporary social realities while fostering critical thinking, civic engagement, and interdisciplinary learning.

Ipinakikilala ng Tanglaw si Leonard Z. Magadia (BSDC '24) bilang ikaapat na editor-in-chief (EIC) nito, matapos niyang malampasan ang kinakailangang puntos sa katatapos lamang na Tanglaw EIC Selection 2026 ngayong araw, Hunyo 4.

Nagsimula si Magadia bilang news apprentice ng pahayagan noong Pagningas 2025. Kalaunan ay naglingkod siya bilang news editor sa ikaapat na taon ng Tanglaw. Matapos nito ay nagsilbi siya bilang managing editor at OIC, editor-in-chief ngayong taon.

Sa gitna ng mga patuloy na umiigting na isyung panlipunan, kaagad na pangangasiwaan ni Magadia ang pahayagan, kabilang na ang pagbuo ng bagong Tanglaw Editorial Board para sa A.Y. 2026-2027.
