UPLB ILCAL in Siargao for Circular Economy Capacity Building! 🌊♻️
As part of DOST’s Project Green Wave, we facilitated a 2-day workshop on Embedding the 10Rs in Instruction, Research, and Extension for HEIs and DepEd STEM—strengthening sustainability integration across teaching, research, and extension initiatives.
The workshop covered key topics including the Circular Economy ISO 59000 series, valorization strategies for plastics and biomass, fundamental concepts in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and practical approaches to integrating Circular Economy (CE) principles into academic curricula.

UPLB ILCAL, together with its project team, successfully conducted the inception workshop for the project “Life Cycle Assessment of Potentially Non-Environmentally Acceptable Products in the Philippines,” funded by GIZ.
This study aims to generate robust, science-based evidence that will support informed government decision-making and strengthen policy directions toward more sustainable production and consumption in the Philippines.

UPLB ILCAL Successfully Conducts Green Public Procurement (GPP) Seminar-Workshop
Today, UPLB ILCAL held a whole-day seminar-workshop on Green Public Procurement (GPP) at the BAC Office, attended by around 65 participants from the BAC, TWG, and key representatives from CEAT.
The event highlighted the role of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC) in advancing GPP, underscored its environmental and economic benefits, and presented strategies to streamline the transition toward GPP practices.
The day concluded with a collaborative workshop, where participants identified gaps, opportunities, and challenges, laying the groundwork for UPLB’s GPP transition roadmap and its future implementation.
