The student dormitories managed by the UPLB Office of Student Housing participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill conducted today, 18 June 2026, at 9:00 AM.

Lower and upper campus student dormitories namely Makiling Residence Hall, Forestry Residence Hall, New Forestry Residence Hall, New Dormitory Residence Hall, ATI-NTC Residence Hall, VetMed Residence Hall, Men's Residence Hall, Women's Residence Hall, and International House Residence Hall collectively joined the activity.

The earthquake drill aimed to strengthen disaster readiness and safety awareness among students and staff, especially in light of the recent seismic events.

Pursuant to OVCCA Memorandum No.16 , Series of 2026 and Memorandum No. PAJ 26-02 on the 2026 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, the University of the Philippines Los Baños will participate in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆), 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟵:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 𝘁𝗼 𝟬𝟵:𝟯𝟬 𝗔𝗠

As part of the continuing efforts of OVCCA-SSO to promote disaster preparedness and campus safety, all members of the UPLB community are strongly encouraged to participate, while partner organizations within the campus are encouraged to join the drill.

This activity aims to strengthen the University’s preparedness and ensure the safety of the campus community during emergencies. Participants are advised to follow the guidance of designated safety marshals throughout the drill.

⚡ POWER RESTORATION ADVISORY ⚡

🔧 After numerous hours of laborious repairs and maintenance work, the entire UPLB campus was fully energized at around 3:30PM, June 15,2026.

🙏 We sincerely thank you for your continued understanding, cooperation, and patience throughout this restoration effort.

⚡ POWER RESTORATION ADVISORY ⚡

Following the recent power outage over the weekend, UPMO has substantially completed the necessary repair works. Damaged lightning arresters, as well as affected main power lines and cables, have been replaced to ensure the safe and reliable restoration of electrical service.

🔧 As part of the final stage of the restoration process, UPMO will conduct tapping, energization, and testing of newly installed and commissioned electrical system components today, June 15, 2026, starting at 1:30 PM onwards. UPLB Upper and Lower Campus shall be affected by these activities.

⚠️ During this activity, please expect momentary power interruptions, voltage fluctuations, and intermittent power restoration as testing and commissioning procedures are carried out.

🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

To protect your equipment from possible damage due to power surges or voltage fluctuations, all offices, laboratories, and work areas are strongly advised to:

🔌 Unplug or switch off high-power and sensitive electrical equipment, including:

- Laboratory instruments and equipment
- Computers, servers, and network devices
- Refrigerators and freezers
- Air-conditioning units
- Audio-visual equipment
- Other sensitive or heavy electrical loads

⚡ This precaution is highly recommended to prevent equipment damage during the energization and testing phase of the electrical system.

🛠️ Our technical personnel are working diligently to complete the remaining activities safely and efficiently and to fully restore stable power service to the university as soon as possible.
