The Multi-Store Model explains how information moves through different stages of memory. According to Atkinson and Shiffrin, memory is divided into 3 stores that work together when we learn and remember information.

๐Ÿ“š The 3 Memory Stores:

๐Ÿ”น Sensory Memory
โ€“ The first stage of memory
โ€“ Receives information from the senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste)
โ€“ Holds information for only a few seconds
Example: briefly remembering a face or sound right after seeing or hearing it

โฌ‡๏ธ If we PAY ATTENTION to the information, it moves to short-term memory.

๐Ÿ”น Short-Term Memory (STM)
โ€“ Holds a small amount of information for a short time
โ€“ Usually lasts around 15โ€“30 seconds without rehearsal
โ€“ Limited capacity
Example: remembering a phone number long enough to write it down

โฌ‡๏ธ Through REHEARSAL or repetition, information moves to long-term memory.

๐Ÿ”น Long-Term Memory (LTM)
โ€“ Stores information for a very long time
โ€“ Can hold large amounts of information
โ€“ Includes memories, knowledge, skills, and experiences
Example: remembering your birthday, favorite song lyrics, or how to ride a bike

Information from long-term memory can be brought back into short-term memory when needed

Not all students learn the same way โ€” and thatโ€™s okay. Intelligence is not just about being โ€œbook smart.โ€ According to Gardner, people have different kinds of intelligence that affect how they learn, solve problems, and express themselves.

๐Ÿ“š The 9 Multiple Intelligences:

๐Ÿ”น Linguistic Intelligence โ€“ good with words, reading, writing, speaking, storytelling. Examples: writers, speakers, journalists

๐Ÿ”น Logical-Mathematical Intelligence โ€“ strong in reasoning, numbers, problem-solving, analyzing. Examples: scientists, engineers, mathematicians

๐Ÿ”น Visual-Spatial Intelligence โ€“ thinks in images, designs, maps, creativity, imagination. Examples: artists, architects, photographers
