We are pleased to announce the newly elected AUSG officers for SY 2026-2027.
In every democratic system, elections serve as the primary mechanism through which citizens exercise their right to choose their leaders. The right to vote likewise includes the right to abstain from supporting any candidate.
In the context of AUSG elections, an abstention vote shall not be considered a vote in favor of or against any candidate and shall not be counted toward a candidateโs total votes. An abstention vote shall serve only to indicate the total number of ballots cast.
However, in cases where a position is contested by a sole candidate, and the number of abstention votes exceeds the number of votes cast in favor of the candidate, the position shall be declared vacant. Any vacant position resulting from such an outcome shall be filled through a special election, the schedule and procedures of which shall be determined and announced by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) after the 17th ALC.
For the information and guidance of all.
