An insightful and empowering discussion took place today as Ms. Lia Andrea, Bahaghari PUP Secretary General and Day 1 Resource Speaker, led the session on “SOGIE 101 + LGBT Situationer.”

Through meaningful conversations and shared perspectives, participants deepened their understanding of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE), while gaining awareness of the current realities, challenges, and advocacies of the LGBT community. The discussion fostered a space for learning, inclusivity, and respect for diversity.

The Educational Discussion officially commenced with powerful opening remarks from Hon. Jan Francize Faner, Councilor of the PUP College of Engineering Student Council and Inhinyero, Lavarn Overall Head.

In their message, Hon. Faner emphasized the importance of deepening our understanding of SOGIESC and the realities faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. They reminded participants that Pride goes beyond celebration, it is a continuing movement for acceptance, equality, and liberation. Highlighting the community's ongoing struggle against discrimination and exclusion, they called on everyone to become advocates for a society where every identity and expression is respected and valued.

As we celebrate Pride Month, may we continue to amplify our voices and stand firm in the call for genuine inclusivity and the passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill.
