SMIT Student Leaders Open Strategic Planning Session 2026 with Energy, Purpose, and Power
The School of Management and Information Technology officially opened Day 1 of the SMIT Student Organization Strategic Planning Session 2026 at the Benilde HIFI Building, bringing together student leaders from different SMIT organizations for a day of learning, collaboration, and future-ready planning. With the theme “Pre-Plan. Align. Collaborate. Lead.”, the session served as a launchpad for student organizations to align their events, projects, and activities with the direction of their home programs for Academic Year 2026–2027.
The program began with an inspiring message from Dean Dr. Joana M. Diñoso, who reminded student leaders that leadership is not just about titles or positions. It is about service, purpose, teamwork, and creating real impact for fellow students. Her message set the tone for the day, clear, empowering, and very SMIT.
The event was also strengthened by the presence of Dr. Catherine Mojado, Associate Dean of the Analytics, Computing, and Information Technology Cluster, Mr. Peter Cayayan, Associate Dean of the Leadership, Management, and Entrepreneurship Cluster and all program chairpersons and organization advisers. Their support highlighted SMIT’s strong commitment to developing student organizations that are more strategic, collaborative, and connected to their respective programs.
A major highlight of the morning was the presentation of SMITENSITY, led by John Carlo Go of the Benilde Junior Marketing Association. The presentation gave student leaders a bigger view of SMITENSITY as a school-wide initiative. More than just a series of events, it was presented as a movement that can bring SMIT organizations together, strengthen school identity, and create more exciting opportunities for students across programs.
The session was also led by Mr. Erickson Jao, who spoke about Benildean and Lasallian Leadership as the heart of student life at Benilde. He emphasized that leadership is not limited to activities, attendance, and event posters. It is about forming students who serve with purpose, lead with compassion, collaborate with respect, and create meaningful experiences for the community. In SMIT, student organizations are seen as powerful partners in program development, student engagement, visibility, and community-building.
In the afternoon, Mr. PV Sandrino led a session on branding and marketing, helping student leaders understand how organizations can build a strong identity, communicate their value, and make their activities more visible and relevant. The learning continued with Mr. Drith Venezuela, who shared insights on events management, focusing on planning, coordination, ex*****on, and evaluation.
Throughout the day, the energy of the student leaders was felt in every discussion, exchange, and planning activity. They collaborated, asked questions, shared ideas, and showed the kind of enthusiasm that makes SMIT student life vibrant and powerful. Day 1 successfully set the stage for a more intentional, connected, and exciting year for the School of Management and Information Technology Student Organizations.
As SMIT moves forward to Academic Year 2026–2027, one thing is clear: its student leaders are ready. Ready to plan. Ready to collaborate. Ready to lead. Ready to make SMITENSITY felt across the Benilde community.
