๐ค PUP Graduate School and Philippine National Railways Explore Partnership for Extension and Capacity-Building Initiatives
On June 10, 2026, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Graduate School (PUP GS) and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) held an exploratory meeting to discuss potential collaboration on extension projects, professional development, and capacity-building initiatives.
The PUP GS delegation was led by Dr. Elmer G. De Jose, Dean of the Graduate School, together with Dr. Philip P. Ermita, ASEAN Engineer, Professor I, Chairperson of the MS in Industrial Engineering and Graduate Diploma in Project Management (GDipPM), and Director of the Technology Business Incubation and Development Office, and Dr. Annabelle A. Gordonas, Chief of the Research and Extension Office.
Representing PNR were Atty. Celeste D. Lauta, Assistant General Manager, Engr. Christian Mendoza, Team Lead for the South Long Haul Project, along with other officials and staff.
During the meeting, PUP GS shared its academic offerings, particularly the Graduate Diploma in Project Management (GDipPM), and explored possible areas of collaboration aimed at enhancing the competencies and capabilities of PNR personnel through relevant training, extension programs, research, and lifelong learning opportunities.
This engagement marks a significant step toward building a strong partnership between PUP GS and PNR in advancing workforce development, organizational excellence, sustainable transportation, and public service innovation. The collaboration likewise supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
