𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙄: 𝙋𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙮, 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨

English-language education in the Philippines is at a critical crossroads, facing two possible paths. This presentation is anchored in futures thinking, the practice of anticipating multiple possible scenarios and preparing for them rather than relying solely on past trends. It follows the stages of the foresight process: environmental scanning, trend analysis, scenario creation, visioning, and strategic planning. It aims to start a conversation with policymakers, researchers, and teachers, so they can make decisions that will lead to the future they envision for Filipino learners in the Age of Gen AI.

𝗕𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘
Dr. Sterling Miranda Plata is an educator, researcher, and a champion of education reform.
