With Jeson F. Sepulvida of 8-Evangelista securing a five-point foothold above the first runner up, the English department of Emmanuel Resurreccion Congressional Integrated High School (ERCIHS) picks Sepulvida as the school’s delegate for the upcoming Mar Dunong Word Challenge semi-finals.

Sepulvida, with 23 points according to the tally, stood tall among the 16 participants of the school-based elimination round. Next to him was Eli John F. Sepulvida of 10-Avellana with 18 points, while Alexa Jazara D. Liongson of 10-Hernandez ranked third with a score of 17.

Jeson safeguarded his first place at the leaderboard after correctly capturing three out of five words at the difficult round, gaining additional nine points and advancing ahead of other contestants.

With Jeson’s win at the elimination round, the semi-final round awaits him on September 17, where he will compete with both public and private school delegates around Dasmariñas City to secure their place for the grand finals.

Held at the school library on September 4, the school-based elimination round is the first phase of 2025 Mar Dunong Word Challenge, an annual spelling contest for junior high learners that aims to exhibit students’ competency of the English language.
