โ€œMACHUCA TILESโ€
โ€œA Living Craft in Every Patternโ€

Machuca Tiles are handmade decorative cement tiles known for their detailed patterns and classic, vintage feel that instantly adds character to any space. You can often spot them in popular Metro Manila cafรฉs and restaurants like Mary Grace, Wildflour, and Nikkei, as well as in churches, ancestral houses, and heritage sites such as the home of former President Jose P. Laurel in Paco, Manila.

These tiles date back to 1903, when Don Jose Machuca y Romero introduced tile-making in the Philippines inspired by Spanish and Mediterranean designs. What started as a small craft became a long-standing family tradition that continues up to today, making Machuca Tiles one of the oldest handmade tile makers in the country.

Each Machuca Tile is carefully made by hand using molds, cement, sand, and colored pigments. The process is slow and detailed, but itโ€™s what gives every tile its unique, slightly imperfect look that feels more natural and artistic.

Today, Machuca Tiles are used in floors, walls, and decorative accents in homes, restaurants, hotels, and other interior spaces. More than just a design element, they represent craftsmanship, history, and a piece of Filipino heritage that continues to live on in modern interiors.

And just like thatโ€ฆ the mystery unfolded. ๐Ÿ‘€โœจ

๐ŸŽฌ ROLL THE TAPESโ€ฆ or should we say, relive the reality? ๐Ÿ‘€

What looked like just another seminar turned out to be something deeperโ€”stories untold, lessons unfiltered, and realities no Pinterest board could prepare us for. But the magic didn't start on stage. It lived in the late-night brainstorming sessions, the shared laughter over chaotic designs, and the collective effort of building an identity from the ground up.

From the raw sparks of our initial ideas to the industry truths shared by our guests, from the mounting pressure to the shared passionโ€”โ€œIDENTITY: Navigating the Reality of Design Industryโ€ was more than an event. It was a journey of building, creating, and discovering together. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿงก

To our speakers, partners, professors, and every participant who joined the journeyโ€”thank you for helping us navigate the reality behind the craft and for being part of the story, both behind the scenes and under the spotlight.

And while the seminar may be overโ€ฆ the questions still echo:

โœจ What kind of designer will you become?
โœจ What IDentity will you build?

The journey of finding your IDentity has only just begun.

IDentity explored, reality embraced! ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ

What an amazing turnout for our seminar, "IDentity: Navigating the Reality of Design Industry." Seeing our 4th-year seniors and 2nd-year students gather to learn about the path ahead was truly inspiring.

A huge shoutout to our incredible speaker, IDr. Lyn Rose Macarilay, for shedding light on what it really takes to succeed in the design world. Your guidance means so much to us!

Weโ€™re also so grateful to Landlite for showcasing their innovative products and sharing their expertise with us. Your support helps bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application.

To everyone who joined us: thank you for being present and engaged! We want to hear your thoughtsโ€”please head to the link below, or scan the QR Code in the last photo to fill-out our evaluation form:

โ€œMURANO GLASSโ€
The Art of Light, Color, and Luxury

Murano Glass is a famous handmade glass art from Murano, an island near Venice, Italy. It is known for its vibrant colors, elegant details, and luxurious appearance that have made it popular around the world for centuries.

The craft started way back in 1291 when Venetian glassmakers were transferred to Murano to protect their secret techniques and prevent fires in Venice. Since then, Murano became known as the center of artistic glassmaking.

What makes Murano Glass special is that every piece is handmade by skilled artisans called โ€œmaestrosโ€. They shape melted glass using different techniques like blowing, twisting, and layering colors while the glass is still extremely hot. Because of this process, no two pieces are exactly the same.

Murano Glass is often used in chandeliers, vases, mirrors, jewelry, and decorative pieces found in luxury interiors and hotels. Its ability to reflect light beautifully adds elegance and artistic character to a space.

More than just decoration, Murano Glass represents history, craftsmanship, and timeless design. Even today, it continues to inspire artists and interior designers around the world because of its beauty and unique handmade quality.
