The Department of Education has issued updated guidelines to make lesson planning more flexible, efficient and responsive to the actual needs of learners.

This update introduces the ILAW Framework, which focuses on four essential parts of lesson planning:

✅ I – Intentions
✅ L – Learning Experience
✅ A – Assessing Learning
✅ W – Ways Forward

The new guidelines aim to reduce unnecessary paperwork, strengthen reflective teaching, support collaborative lesson planning and promote more meaningful classroom learning.

Important points include:
📍 Old DLL/DLP formats may still be used until the end of the 1st term of SY 2026–2027.
📍 Full implementation of the revised guidelines begins in the 2nd term of SY 2026–2027.
📍 AI may be used for support tasks like grammar checks and formatting, but fully AI-generated lesson plans are not allowed.
📍 Lesson planning should focus on learner needs, instructional quality, assessment and reflection.

This update is especially important for teachers, ALS implementers, school heads, students and parents as schools prepare for a more learner-centered and context-responsive approach to teaching.
