There is nothing quite like watching students reach the summit of their dreams. A four-year university journey is all about embracing growth, adapting to change, and discovering who you are meant to be. I am so grateful to the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters for shaping these bright young adults and preparing them for the world beyond our walls. As educators, we teach, we learn, and we evolve alongside our students. To another day, another batch, and another deeply inspiring group of graduates. Congratulations, UST AB Batch 2026!🎉🥂👨🏻🎓

On June 4, 2026, Prof. Gregorio Martin I, PhD of the UST Department of Medical Technology and Asst. Prof. Andrew Gonzales, DBA, of the UST Department of Biochemistry met with our Chairman, Prof. Alain Santos, CPA, PhD, and faculty members from the UST Department of Economics—Asst. Prof. Ederliza Magpantay, MAE; and Inst. Mikko Diaz, MAE, who is also affiliated with the Asian Development Bank—for a collaborative discussion on the economic implications of ruminant liver fluke infections.
The discussion explored how these parasitic infections affect cattle health, agricultural productivity, and the supply of cattle-derived products and by-products, with particular attention to their broader economic consequences for the livestock sector and related industries.

Our deepest condolences and prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of Ma’am Amor Pedro.
Her dedication as an economics professor and researcher in the Faculty of Arts and Letters, alongside her leadership as OIC director of the Social Research Center, left an indelible mark on the University of Santo Tomas.
She will be remembered not only for her academic contributions but also for her commitment to nurturing future generations of Thomasians.

Following their milestone achievement at the international conference held in Cebu City, our chairman, Dr. Alain, together with our graduating students and Prof. Arlen Ancheta, PhD, of the UST Graduate School took the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich culture and vibrant culinary scene of the Queen City of the South. Beyond the academic and professional success celebrated during the conference, the trip also became a meaningful experience for learning, camaraderie, and cultural appreciation.

Huge congratulations to our graduating students, Alyanna Coleen San Gabriel and Moiren Secilla Dela Cruz, for winning the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Nature Studies and Innovations on the Environment (ICNSIE) 2026, held at the University of the Philippines Cebu. Their study, "Between Growth and Green: An Empirical Analysis of Urbanization, Energy, and Emissions in Emerging ASEAN Economies," tackle critical contemporary issues with impressive depth.
We also commend Joshua Lucero and Kenneth, whose excellent mixed-methods research study, "The Impact of Environmental Disruptions to Philippine International Trade," was named a Best Paper finalist. Outstanding work, team! Your dedication to impactful environmental research is truly inspiring. 🏅👏
