Young readers from Kindergarten to Grade 5 showcased their confidence, creativity, and love for literature as they took part in the school’s storytelling sessions during the 4th implementation of Brigada Pagbasa at Isabelo delos Reyes Elementary School (IRES), held February 9–13, 2026.
Brigada Pagbasa was successfully conducted as part of the school’s continuing literacy program, which is held after every periodic examination. The initiative was spearheaded by the school’s Reading Coordinator, Mrs. Verneth M. Guzman. With the guidance and supervision of the School Head, Mrs. Blesilda B. Cueto, and IRES PSDS Dr. Teofilo R. Norombaba, the activity was carried out smoothly each time.
The program brought together participants from Kindergarten to Grade 6, with selected teachers, pupils, and parents serving as Reading Champions, showcasing their reading skills and storytelling abilities.
For its fourth conduct, the program highlighted the Reading Tandem approach, making the sessions more interactive, engaging, and encouraging for learners. The initiative also expanded its reach through Facebook Live, allowing more members of the school community to witness the activity and show their support.
Representing Kindergarten, the storytellers included Vivian S. Mausig, Darius Aineille C. Magat, Khatrina T. Guevarra, and Jael Gavin C. Leodones, who delighted listeners with their enthusiasm and imagination.
For Grade 1, the storytellers were Primo Damace M. Abao, Euna Mayne M. Leybag, Mila P. Bunagan, Ma. Natasha Claire M. Guzman, and Jimyrose T. Tablazon, each demonstrating confidence and expressive narration.
Meanwhile, the Grade 2 participants Camille P. De Quiroz, Risha Amara Inoncillo, Edmond A. Pabrua, Darla Mae R. Alejandro, Grace A. Diolazo, Xabrina N. Roxas, Marife Z. Fresnosa, and Princess Mae Flores, captivated the audience through their lively storytelling and clear delivery.
From Grade 3, the storytellers were Joseph S. Dela Cruz, Mark Japeth G. Bayron, Eidan Grae Ytang, Thalia G. Borja, Rumea Aniel D. Bombita, Enrique Emmanoel I. Diaz, and Louise Gian V. Tindioco, who impressed listeners with their storytelling skills and stage presence.
The Grade 4 storytellers included Ackiesha Mitch B. Banal and Cail Jarvis T. Be Sana, Zia Dione R. Parane and Mary Rose R. Parane, Carl Emil F. Cabardo, Janella Elize C. Pilvera, Manilyn D. Marquez, Trixie V. De Guerto, Ayesha Khalifa F. Labrador, and Alliah Rheinne D. Armojuela, all of whom demonstrated creativity and strong storytelling techniques.
Finally, the Grade 5 storytellers Janella Jazz D. Asayo, Prince Jacob D. Cresini, Zia Reginette V. Quijano, Rosebelle D.C. Mationg, Niño Antonio Dela Cruz, Zyana Caeli V. Dizon, Eden Li V. Dizon, Karen T. Trajano, Anna Princesa Dianne A. Buluran, and Mery June A. Gerona, showed remarkable confidence and mastery in engaging their audience.
Brigada Pagbasa aims to encourage students to read regularly, develop a love for reading, improve comprehension, and build confidence in storytelling and oral reading. The activity reflects the strong collaboration among teachers, parents, and learners in promoting literacy and strengthening reading skills.
Carrying the theme “Tatak Isabelo: Angat ang Talino sa Pagkuwento,” the program highlights the school’s commitment to nurturing young readers and confident storytellers, reinforcing the importance of literacy as a shared responsibility of the entire school community.
