MPC Tech Students Clinch Medals at WorldSkills NCR 2026

Technology students from Marikina Polytechnic College captured multiple medals at the WorldSkills Philippines National Capital Region 2026 competition, which wrapped up on May 29, 2026, at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Multipurpose Gymnasium, Taguig City.

Anchored on the theme, “Skilled, Dynamic, and Future-Ready,” the WorldSkills showdown brought together 120 youth competitors from 27 academic institutions to test their skills in 35 different technical categories.

Drafting technology majors Jherriko L. Maala and Jay-Ame L. Guiling led the school's winning circle by bagging silver medals in their respective high-tech events. Automotive standout May Lhynne C. Rosales added to the school's medal tally by taking home a bronze medal.

Maala won his silver medal in Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) with the help of his coach, Prof. Gio L. Garcia. Guiling scored her silver medal in 3D Digital Game Art under the guidance of Prof. Reymart E. Dellomas.

Rosales secured her bronze medal in Automobile Technology under the mentorship of Prof. Sherwin P. Pamulo. Rosales beat out rivals from highly specialized private tech hubs, even while juggling training with her college final exams.

According to Coach Pamulo, "Tayo ang nag-iisang state college na lumaban, so nakaka-proud talaga, because that only proves our students are prepared for this kind of competition. Nakita natin ang kapasidad ng Technology students ng MPC. Our students can think of solutions under pressure.”

MPC also fielded strong contenders in other fields, including Wilson G. Ubas in Fashion Technology and Cyrus Efrem Villasanta in Graphics Design Technology.

Dr. Rudy James D. Tabasa, Dean of Institute of Technology and Lifelong Learning, stated that MPC proudly accepted the invitation from TESDA PAMAMARISAN (Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan) to compete in the Worldskills NCR Competition. Highlighting the college’s heritage, Dr. Tabasa shared, “MPC, formerly known as Marikina Institute of Science and Technology, is the only SUC that represented PAMAMARISAN.”

Balancing career, academics, and family shouldn't be a solo battle.

Today, Marikina Polytechnic College joins the nation in joining the childcare community initiative pioneered by Romblon State University. This initiative is purposefully designed to uplift working parents, support student-parents, and give our children the safe, nurturing spaces they deserve right within our communities.

This collaborative milestone directly reinforces CHED’s ACHIEVE Agenda, which is precisely targeted at elevating the welfare of higher education stakeholders, fostering impactful community-extension linkages, and driving sustainable economic development. By providing accessible and reliable childcare, this initiative serves as a direct catalyst for national economic productivity. It systematically eliminates systemic barriers to workforce participation—allowing all members of the community to optimize their labor output, advance their professional credentials, and achieve financial stability without compromising familial welfare.

Welcome home to the community center, where children are nurtured, parents are empowered, and families are embraced through PAG-IBIG and ARUGA.
