MPC and Thailand’s Sahavith School Forge the Future of TVET Education
Moving beyond local borders, Marikina Polytechnic College strengthened its international presence by welcoming partners from Sahavith Business Administration Technological College who attended the Pasinaya 2026 celebration on May 25, 2026. Backed by the Board of Trustees and aligned with the Commission on Higher Education agenda, President Rene M. Colocar revealed that the ongoing agreements and mutual visits are destined to produce graduates who are both technically skilled and globally responsive. Furthermore, Dr. Colocar noted that the partnership serves as a bridge to enhance educational opportunities for students and faculty through cross-border exchange programs, joint research, and the institutional sharing of best practices.
Through the Institute of Technical Teacher Education’s LIPAD (Learners International Program for Academic Development), interns Ronn Justin Reanzares, Angel Roshel Agapito, Neomie Rinarn Goneo, Maria Lourdes Amansec, Jude Ahira Parpan, Ken Rovic Reyes, and Jennefer Venus under the Bachelor of Technical Vocational and Teacher Education (BTVTED) program flew to Suphanburi, Thailand on February 20, 2026, for an international immersion (see https://sl1nk.com/za1xgvj). This cross-cultural jouney was felt through the lived experiences of the interns themselves. Food Service and Management major Ken Rovic Reyes, who also served as the master of ceremonies for the Pasinaya event, demonstrated MPC's "signature excellence" in a Thai classroom, reflecting that teachers hold a “herculean task” to shape the kind of citizens their students will become.
Armed with a recent AACCUP Level III accreditation, Pres. Colocar emphasized that this is only the beginning of deep collaborative ties, urging, “Let this gathering be the beginning of many shared endeavors and partnership, exchange programs, joint research, and of course best practices that will shape the future of our institution, not only in the Philippines but in your own country, Thailand.”
Dr. Glen R. Mangali, Vice President for Planning, Research, Extension, Linkages, Quality Assurance, Publication & Alumni Relations, expanded on this strategic horizon. “Pasinaya, which signifies a meaningful beginning, represents more than a ceremonial engagement. It is a strategic step toward building stronger international linkages that empower students, faculty, and stakeholders to thrive in a dynamic and global environment,” he said.
Driving home the impact on future generations, Dr. Ma. Arra Santos-Bava, Vice President for Academic Affairs, stated, “We are not just navigating our future education, but we are actively shaping it.”
Sahavith Business Administration Technological College CEO, Dr. Jutamanee Kraikunasai, praised the discipline and creativity of the Filipino interns. “I was deeply impressed by your professionalism, discipline, creativity, and positive attitude,” she said. Dr. Kraikunasai revealed that over 50 Filipino teachers already enjoy long-term careers at Sahavith, emphasizing that “together we have created a meaningful learning experience... we build a bridge between the institutions and our community.”
Dean of Instruction Dr. Medardo B. Bombita described the partnership by stating that “true education happens when cultures meet, laugh together, learn from one another and emerge wiser than before,” while Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Joemel V. Bautista envisioned a seamless educational bridge that transforms enrollment into meaningful global employment. “We envision sending our graduates to Thailand as quality teachers. They will carry with them the Filipino puso (heart), but they will also learn from Thailand's nam-jai—the deep, generous kindness that fills every Thai classroom. In that exchange, both nations grow richer, and both students win,” VP Bautista said in his closing remarks.
