Last week, markets were driven by central bank decisions and mixed economic signals. The Fed maintained a cautious stance while resilient U.S. data kept expectations for rate cuts from accelerating. At the same time, attention shifted toward inflation and labor conditions as traders looked for the next catalyst across major economies.
This week, inflation and growth take the lead as markets look for the next directional catalyst. Traders will be watching whether fresh numbers support economic resilience or add pressure to policy expectations. Swipe to learn more.

Ever notice price hits your stop loss firstโฆ then runs in your original direction?
Thatโs not random. Thatโs liquidity.
Liquidity refers to areas where stop losses and pending orders accumulate. These zones become key targets because price naturally moves toward where liquidity is resting.
This is where liquidity sweeps happen, price temporarily pushes into these areas, triggers stops, grabs liquidity, and then quickly reverses.
In Smart Money Concepts, this is usually broken down into:
Buy Side Liquidity (above highs)
Sell Side Liquidity (below lows)
Once you understand this, you start to see why price often turns where most traders least expect it.
Thatโs why experienced traders donโt rush entries, they wait for confirmation and market reaction first.

Last week, inflation data delivered a mixed message to markets. U.S. headline CPI accelerated to 4.2% year-over-year, while Core CPI came in softer than expected, keeping the debate over the Fed's next move alive. The Bank of Canada left rates unchanged at 2.25%, and the ECB raised its main refinancing rate to 2.40%, highlighting the different policy paths among major central banks. Meanwhile, UK GDP unexpectedly contracted by 0.1%, raising fresh concerns over growth momentum in the British economy.
This week, traders will shift their focus to central bank decisions and labor market data. With inflation remaining uneven across major economies, policymakers' guidance and employment figures could play a key role in shaping market sentiment and rate expectations heading into the second half of June.

A Change of Character (CHOCH) can be an early sign that the market may be changing direction.
Unlike BOS, which usually confirms continuation, CHOCH may signal a possible reversal.
Example:
Market was making lower lows
Then suddenly breaks a previous high
This can be an early clue that buyers are gaining strength
Many traders use CHOCH together with market structure for better timing.
Trading becomes easier to understand when you learn how price behaves step by step.

A Break of Structure (BOS) happens when price breaks a previous high or low.
Many traders use BOS to spot possible continuation of the current trend.
Simple example:
Breaking above resistance may show bullish strength
Breaking below support may show bearish pressure
Itโs one of the foundations of reading market momentum.
