SEAMEO INNOTECH joined fellow SEAMEO Centres, SEAMEO CECCEP and SEAMEO STEM-ED , in discussions on a proposed Inter-Centre Collaboration (ICC) focused on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
The meeting explored opportunities for joint research and capacity-building initiatives to advance future competencies, ethical AI use, and evidence-based educational practices across Southeast Asia. Through this collaboration, the participating centres reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening regional knowledge sharing and promoting innovative and inclusive approaches to education.

On 29 May 2026, Prof. Yuhki Tajima, Associate Professor of Asian Studies and Political Economy, and Ms. Anna Maria Jesica, Director of Strategy and Operations at Georgetown University, visited INNOTECH for a courtesy and exploratory meeting to discuss potential areas for cooperation and collaboration.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange insights on shared interests in education, research, and policy development, and to explore possible partnerships that could contribute to advancing educational initiatives and strengthening institutional linkages between the two institutions. It also served as a platform to discuss prospective collaborative activities, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and joint projects aligned with the priorities of both Georgetown University and SEAMEO INNOTECH.

SEAMEO INNOTECH continues to advance regional knowledge-sharing and education innovation at the SEAMEO Centres Policy Research Network (CPRN) Summit 2026, held from 9 to 11 June 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and hosted by SEAMEO CECCEP.
Guided by the Summit theme, “Bridging Research, Policy, and Practice: Pathways toward Inclusive, Equitable, and Sustainable Futures,” the gathering brought together education leaders, researchers, and practitioners from across Southeast Asia to exchange evidence-based insights and strengthen collaborative approaches in education, science, and culture.
INNOTECH Centre Director Majah-Leah V. Ravago, PhD, shared her insights during the plenary session held on 10 June 2026, focusing on the topic “Artificial Intelligence for Equity,” underscoring the role of emerging technologies in promoting more inclusive and equitable learning futures.
Representing SEAMEO INNOTECH, Ms. Lauren Nerisse S. Bautista, Senior Specialist, presented “Career Development for Children (CD4C) in Philippine Elementary Schools,” which examines how elementary schools support early career awareness among Key Stage 1 learners.
Ms. Raphaella Mae Navarrosa, INNOTECH Officer, also highlighted Project SENANG, one of INNOTECH’s projects that promotes child-centered, inclusive, and peace-oriented learning environments.
Through these presentations, SEAMEO INNOTECH reaffirmed its commitment to translating research into responsive policies and programs that support inclusive, equitable, and sustainable futures for learners and communities across Southeast Asia.

The Innovators SEAL (Innovators in Education: Southeast Asian School Leadership Program) successfully concluded its Phase 2 in-person learning interaction on June 15, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the program’s three-phase learning journey.
Over the course of eight days, 33 school leaders and ministry of education officials from all 11 SEAMEO Member Countries and Sri Lanka participated in a rich and immersive learning experience. Phase 2 featured a dynamic blend of activities, including innovation symposia showcasing country initiatives, hands-on innovation sprints, exploration of relevant AI tools, school visits, and collaborative sessions to refine action plans and prototypes.
Participants engaged in meaningful knowledge exchange, sharing innovative practices from their respective education systems while learning from peers across the region. Through guided discussions, coaching sessions, and design-thinking activities, they co-developed practical and context-responsive solutions to shared challenges. They also explored the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to strengthen leadership approaches and drive innovation in their schools and organizations.
Phase 2 concluded with a program synthesis, reflection on key learnings, and the awarding of certificates—celebrating the participants’ growth as innovative and future-ready education leaders. Equipped with strengthened competencies, collaborative networks, and actionable innovation plans.

Teachers’ motivation to remain in the profession is often discussed in terms of passion and commitment. Yet across education systems, school conditions and workload realities also continue to influence teachers’ day-to-day experiences in the profession.
