🌍 New DAAD Scholarship Programme: GROW – Global Research Opportunities for the South

With GROW – Global Research Opportunities for the South, the DAAD supports researchers, academics and university lecturers from Latin America, Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa in building strong, sustainable research partnerships with Germany. The programme funds short-term research stays in Germany, as well as preparatory and cooperation visits, all with a clear focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and concrete development impact.

A core principle of GROW is what comes after the stay: Fellows return to their home institutions and bring back new knowledge, methods and networks, strengthening research, teaching and knowledge transfer where it matters most.

🎓 Open to early-career and experienced researchers, academics and university lecturers at higher education and research institutions. Women and individuals from disadvantaged regions or groups are especially encouraged to apply.

For German universities, GROW offers an excellent opportunity to initiate or strengthen SDG-oriented international research cooperation.

This week, we really expanded horizons! The Role of Science Diplomacy, Governing Urban Water Systems, Farming and Ethnoveterinary Practices in Misamis Occidental - these were the topics of our conference, held on 27th November at UP Diliman. But the conference was much more than an academic exchange about sustainability goals and achievements - it was also and above all a networking event for Germany related people and institutions. Researchers, students, alumni ... made a very special, productive, and inspiring mix. Not to forget: great food, awarded dance performances in an excellent venue. 🥰

The German Embassy Manila, in cooperation with UP Diliman, proudly presents the Scientific Symposium of Filipino Scholars and Researchers in Germany on 27 November 2025 (Thursday), 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, at the Benito Sy Pow Auditorium, College of Architecture, UP Diliman.

This event is open to the public; UP Stakeholders and the general public are invited to attend this scientific symposium.
AM Snacks, Lunch, and PM Snacks will be served at the Stage Area for registered participants. Registration will also be the main basis for issuing certificates of appearances.
