DepEd reminds schools and teachers that assessment should focus on quality rather than quantity.
For Grades 1–3, teachers are given the flexibility to determine the appropriate number of assessments needed to gather sufficient evidence of learning while avoiding assessment overload.
For Grades 4–12, the recommended number of summative assessments per learning area per term are:
πŸ“ Written/Oral Works (WWs): 3–5
🎯 Product/Performance Tasks (PTs): 2–3
πŸ“‹ Examinations (EXs): 2 Summative Tests (STs) and 1 Term Examination (TE)
The goal is to ensure meaningful assessment experiences that accurately measure learner progress while supporting learning and well-being.

Under DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2026, learners in Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 (Grades 4–12) who achieve a General Average (GA) of 90 or higher and have no Final Grade (FG) below 80 in any learning area shall be eligible for the Academic Excellence Award.
To ensure fairness and promote a healthy learning environment, awardees will be listed alphabetically rather than by rank. Learners must also have no derogatory records or disciplinary cases during the school year.
This recognition celebrates not only academic achievement but also responsibility, good conduct, consistency, and balanced performance across all learning areas.
