𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝘅 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀?: 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮
Allen Baylosis is an emerging socio-academic artist and performance scholar. He is interested in the intersections of critical theory, minoritarian performances, and the Filipinx diaspora. He is a Ph.D. student in Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia, where his research focuses on contemporary aesthetic performances, q***r assemblages of Brownness, and the Filipinx commons. He is currently a Theatre Research in Canada/ Recherches théâtrales au Canada (TRIC/RTAC) Emerging and Early Career Theatre and Performance Studies Scholars Writing Fellow, where his project looks at the racial politics and hegemonized spectatorship in post-show talkbacks. He holds a Master of Arts in Performance Studies (New York University) and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication (University of the Philippines Diliman).

𝙈𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜
Ian Rafael Ramirez is an early career performance and cultural studies scholar. Their essay on Today x Future, a popular q***r space in Cubao, appeared in the Australasian Drama Studies Journal. They are currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Melbourne where they are doing research with self-proclaimed and publicly hailed baklang kanals to make sense of the different relations that inform the assemblage of their worldmaking practices. They are also an emerging artist working across dramaturgy, curation, and performance-making, and have done projects both in the Philippines and Australia. Their recent creative projects include Baklang Kanal! (Performance Space and PACT Centre for Emerging Artists, as a performer), and 'it would be a nice place' (Environmental Film Festival Australia, Seventh Gallery, and Australian Environments on Screen, as co-curator).

The 8th SIPA International Festival will run from September 24 to 28, 2023. It is a collaboration between SIPA and different academic institutions across Metro Manila, such as the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts of the University of the Philippines, the Department of Fine Arts of Ateneo De Manila University, and the School of Arts, Sciences and Education of Miriam College.
