Active Thinkers, Our Story
Active Thinkers Child Development Center was single handedly founded by a mother and educator who believe that children should be given equal opportunities to grow holistically – physical, socio-emotional and cognitive.
For her, it is important that parents and teachers should give equal focus on children who show gifts in other intelligences aside from the cognitive: the nature and animal lovers, musicians, designers, dancers, therapists, and others who enrich the world in which we live. Unfortunately, many children who possess these gifts do not receive much reinforcement from the school. Many of them end up being labeled “learning disabled” or simply underachievers just because they cannot cope cognitively with the schools’ academic standards.
Such is the reason for the birth of Active Thinkers. We believe that aside from enhancing their cognitive skills, more focus should be given on building the child’s character and in forming their life skills. The visionary behind our center, Teacher Lenith Señora believes that the goal for the first three years of school is not to judge the child’s knowledge or learning, but to establish good manners and to develop their character. In our center, children are taught to respect other people and to be gentle to animals and nature. They also learn how to be generous, compassionate, and empathetic in their formative years.
Active Thinkers Child Development Center had its soft opening in the summer of May 2009. We had two classrooms for 3s class and the Vertical class, 4s, 5s and 6s. Back then, when other preschool centers were struggling to have eight to ten enrollees, we were blessed to have over thirty students.
