"Thriving in the Margins: Inclusive Education Re-imagined"

From 6 to 8 March 2018, more than 200 participants representing 16 countries around the globe collaborated to re-think and re-imagine Inclusive Education. The diverse group tried to answer the big question: "How do we grow a learning community that welcomes everyone?"

The 15th SEAMEO INNOTECH International Conference, with the theme "Thriving in the Margins: Inclusive Education Re-imagined," uses the power of stories to explore inclusive quality education from the perspective of learners who are traditionally unseen, unheard, and underserved.

Here are some stories of how those in the margins achieved success in their fight for inclusive education

Mr. Philip Purnell (conference chair), Sheikh Manssour Bin Mossallam (ERF President), and Dr. Ramon Bacani (SEAMEO INNOTECH Director) closed the conference circle. Thank you to everyone who participated in the IC @ SEAMEO INNOTECH

Lynette dela Cruz-Tupas, the last storyteller for the conference, touched everyone’s hearts in her story about teaching the undocumented migrants in Sabah and proved that mothers make the best teachers

“I realized that it does take humility to learn. I admit that I didn’t know much at the outset, but I was willing to learn. I wanted to learn because I needed to impart something to other people.” — Fr. Bobby dela Cruz, a former drug pusher and user who was transformed and is now a priest heading a community-based rehab program
