DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that the conduct of the Flag Ceremony in schools is not merely a tradition but a responsibility mandated under Republic Act No. 8491 (Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines) and guided by DepEd Order No. 50, s. 2015?
Across DepEd Rizal, this important practice is consistently observed in schools every Monday for the Flag Raising Ceremony and every Friday for the Flag Retreat Ceremony, promoting respect for the Philippine flag and strengthening our sense of national identity.
More than a weekly routine, the Flag Ceremony helps instill discipline, patriotism, and civic responsibility among learners. Through the singing of the National Anthem, recitation of pledges, and observance of proper flag etiquette, students are reminded of their role in nation-building and are inspired to become responsible, values-driven, and productive Filipino citizens.

DEPED RAISES PASSING RAW SCOREโ๏ธ
The Department of Education has officially implemented a revised grading system in all public schools starting School Year 2026-2027, replacing the transmutation table that had been in place since DepEd Order No. 8 in 2015.
Under the new adjusted transmutation table, students must now earn a raw score of 70 to 72.99 to receive a passing grade of 75.
Under the old system, a raw score as low as 60 to 61.59 was already enough to transmute to a passing mark.
The change is backed by findings from the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2), which found that the old transmutation system was hiding how much students were actually struggling, because low raw scores could still appear as passing grades on school records.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara admitted that while DepEd never had an official mass promotion policy, the way its grading rules worked together in practice was producing the same result.
SY 2026-2027 serves as a transition year. The full zero-based grading system, where term grades are derived directly from raw scores without any transmutation, is set to take effect in SY 2027-2028.
The passing grade of 75 remains unchanged. What changed is the raw score a student must actually earn to reach it.
What are your thoughts on the revised grading guidelines?
