The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III) - Graduate Scholarships Division recently gathered the dedicated Scholarship Administrators from Delivering Higher Education Institutions (DHEIs) for a vital, forward-looking orientation. The primary focus of the meeting was to reinforce and refine the implementation of the Scholarships for Staff and Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) across the region.

This comprehensive orientation served as a collaborative platform to streamline complex scholarship administration processes, clarify critical program guidelines, and establish a highly consistent standard of implementation. By clearly defining institutional roles and elevating regional accountability, this proactive initiative ensures that our hard-working Filipino faculty and staff receive the seamless, robust support they truly deserve.

As these educators pursue advanced studies and upgrade their academic qualifications, CHEDRO III and its partner DHEIs stand ready to back them every step of the way. After all, empowering our educators is the most definitive way to elevate the standard of Philippine higher education!

To ensure the smooth implementation of the Commission's Medical Scholarship and Return Service (MSRS) Program, the Office of the Student Development and Services conducted an Orientation on CMO No. 10, s. 2026: Guidelines for the Medical Scholarship and Return Service (MSRS) Program on June 10, 2026, at the CHED Central Office in Quezon City. The activity aims to increase the number of scholars under MSRS and ensure that future doctors can render their services in accordance with the prescribed mandates of the Commission and in line with RA 11509, the Doktor Para sa Bayan Act.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III proudly participated in the “Orientation on the Nationwide Roll-out of the Scholarships for Staff and Instructors' Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) Portal” held on June 9-10, 2026 at the CHED Central Office, Quezon City, organized by the Office of Student Development and Services - Graduate Scholarships Division.
Representing CHEDRO III, Mr. John Omer M. Punzalan, Project Technical Staff II, participated in the in-depth, hands-on, and comprehensive discussion of the digital platform, focusing on the system's functionalities, streamlined processing workflows, and standardized scholarship implementation across regions.
The activity gathered the regional SIKAP implementing focal persons committed to effectively utilizing the portal for the implementation of SIKAP across the country.

On 09 June 2026, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) convened Regional Directors, Chief Education Program Specialists, Senior Education Program Specialists, and Life-Long Learning Focal Persons at the UP Hotel, UP Diliman, Quezon City for a strategic engagement anchored on the CHED ACHIEVE Agenda—Advancing Collaboration, Harmonizing Policies, and Institutionalizing Excellence. The activity served as a venue to strengthen inter-office coordination, align policy implementation, and enhance institutional effectiveness across the higher education sector.

In support of the ACHIEVE Agenda, discussions focused on key policy reforms and implementation frameworks, including CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 11, Series of 2025 on the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 12124 (Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program), CMO No. 12, Series of 2025 on Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL), the Guide to CMO No. 1, Series of 2025 on higher education program development and recognition, CHED Administrative Order No. 05, Series of 2026 on the reconstitution of Technical Panels, and updates on the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF), Microcredentials, and workforce development. The engagement reaffirmed CHED’s commitment to building a responsive, future-ready, and quality higher education system through sustained collaboration and institutional strengthening.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III) - Graduate Scholarships Division (GSD) successfully conducted a Virtual Orientation for the FY 2026 Call for SIKAP Applications on June 17, 2026. A total of 151 teaching and non-teaching personnel from various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the region participated in the virtual event, showcasing a strong commitment to pursuing advanced graduate studies.

During the session, the attendees were deeply oriented on SIKAP’s strict eligibility criteria, which covers qualified personnel from public and private HEIs, Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), and HEIs within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The presentation highlighted the specific priority areas designed to meet contemporary academic demands, neatly categorized under CHED TANYAG—including Creative Industries, Health and Welfare, Engineering, Digital Technology and AI, Tourism, and Natural Sciences, among others.

In addition, participants were introduced to the streamlined digital submission workflow via the official SIKAP Portal. This digital initiative is expected to ensure a faster, more efficient online submission, processing, and evaluation of applications.

Guided by the CHED ACHIEVE Agenda, CHEDRO III remains committed to implementing programs and initiatives that broaden access to quality higher education, foster lifelong learning opportunities, and strengthen the efficiency and responsiveness of public service delivery throughout Region III.

In line with CHED's ACHIEVE Agenda—particularly the pillars of Advanced and Accessible Lifelong Learning and Effective and Efficient Public Service—the CHED Regional Office III Technical Division conducted a monitoring visit to FDSA Aviation College of Science and Technology, Inc., Mabalacat City, Pampanga, on June 16, 2026. The activity aimed to evaluate the institution's program offerings, Tuition and Other School Fees (TOSF), Student Affairs and Services (SAS), and Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives for compliance with CHED’s Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSGs).

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III) proudly participated in the 32nd CHED Anniversary Strategic Partnership Convergence held on June 10, 2026 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City, Metro Manila.

The CHEDRO III delegation was headed by Dr. Maura Consolacion D. Cristobal, CESO III, Director IV, who led the regional office representatives in joining fellow CHED officials, regional offices, higher education institutions, and strategic partners from across the country in commemorating over three decades of advancing quality higher education in the Philippines.

Anchored on collaboration, innovation, and excellence, the convergence served as a platform to strengthen partnerships, share best practices, and reaffirm CHED’s commitment to accessible, relevant, and globally competitive higher education. The event highlighted the agency’s accomplishments and future directions under the ACHIEVE Framework and the Bagong Pilipinas agenda.

Representing Central Luzon, CHEDRO III actively participated in the various activities and discussions that underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in enhancing the quality and responsiveness of higher education programs and services.
A significant highlight of the celebration was the recognition of dedicated public servants through the Loyalty Award Program. CHEDRO III proudly celebrates the achievement of two personnel from the regional office who were honored for their years of faithful and exemplary service to the Commission. Their recognition reflects the values of professionalism, integrity, commitment, and excellence that continue to inspire the CHED community.

As CHED marks its 32nd year of service to the nation, CHEDRO III remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening collaboration, and ensuring that higher education institutions in Central Luzon continue to provide quality education that is responsive to the needs of learners, communities, and industries.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III) conducted an onsite monitoring and orientation at Saint Mary’s Angels College of Pampanga on June 16, 2026 to deliver and strengthen the implementation of Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education (UAQTE) Program. Out of the 314 beneficiary there are 3 Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) Grantees and 195 Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Grantees present during the orientation. The attendees were oriented on the program's policies, benefits, and the duties associated with being a grantee.

In addition, 98.41% of the grantees have successfully opened their accounts with the Land Bank of the Philippines. This allows beneficiaries to receive their grants directly through their accounts. This initiative is expected to streamline the distribution process, ensuring faster and more efficient delivery of financial assistance.

Guided by the ACHIEVE Agenda, CHEDRO III remains committed to implementing programs and initiatives that broaden access to quality higher education, foster lifelong learning opportunities, and strengthen the efficiency and responsiveness of public service delivery throughout Region III.

This June, the Philippines marks Judiciary Month, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Supreme Court.

Declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 1265, s. 2026, the observance calls on government agencies, local government units, the private sector, and civil society to support and partake in the commemoration.

Established on June 11, 1901 through Act No. 136 of the Philippine Commission, the Supreme Court has stood as a pillar of justice—first led by Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano.

In line with this milestone year, the Court unveils a series of activities under the theme: “SC: 125 Years of Tradition and Innovation.”
