SNSU welcomed 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫
𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, a Hong Kong-based semiconductor company, to the main campus for a ceremonial MOU signing, career development talks, on-site recruitment, and a forum on the attributes of SNSU graduates.

Making the visit especially meaningful, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐠, President of Northstar Technologies, personally came to SNSU for the MOU signing. Mr. Bihag is an alumnus of the Surigao del Norte School of Arts and Trades (SNSAT), a predecessor of the present SNSU—a homecoming that speaks not only of his gratitude to his alma mater, but also of the institution’s enduring ability to produce visionary leaders across generations.

In a strong affirmation of our graduates’ readiness, 𝐭𝐞𝐧 (𝟏𝟎) 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭—proof that SNSU produces not only degree holders, but employable professionals who meet the demands of today’s industries.

The forum on graduate attributes was especially valuable—industry feedback that helps keep our programs relevant and our curricula responsive to real workforce needs.

𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 What if students could help teach each other? This SNSU study introduced the "microclass" — dividing a large class into small groups led by trained student facilitators — and found it boosted engagement and soft skills like leadership and discipline in science learning. A low-cost, student-centered innovation worth weaving into how we design our classrooms. 🌱

The Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU), through the Curriculum Development Office and the Legal Office, paid a courtesy visit to Dean Mac Ardy J. Gloria, RPh, PhD of the University of the Philippines Manila – College of Pharmacy as part of the University’s exploratory engagements toward a proposed step-ladder health professions education program for the province of Surigao del Norte.

The dialogue centered on partnership modalities, curricular considerations, and institutional pathways for collaboration between SNSU and UP Manila.

SNSU remains committed to pursuing meaningful academic partnerships that respond to the health workforce needs of the region.

𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 As AI tools become part of student life, the real question is how to use them well. This SNSU study explored how learners used ChatGPT for academic support and found it can ease cognitive load and aid understanding — while underscoring that AI works best when paired with independent thinking and careful evaluation. A grounded perspective as we shape responsible AI use in our classrooms.

As the investigation in Tacloban City continues, authorities have cited not only bullying but online influences — content and groups that normalize and glorify violence — as possible factors. For educators, the task is not to assign blame, but to ask what genuinely prevents harm.

The evidence is clear: 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺, 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲-𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 — restorative discipline that keeps students connected; trusted ways to report bullying early; mental health and guidance support that reaches every learner; social-emotional learning that builds conflict and emotion management; and media and digital literacy that helps young people reject content glorifying harm.

These are not dramatic fixes. They are the daily, deliberate work of every school, family, and community.

𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 What helps a graduate thrive in their profession? This SNSU tracer study followed Education and Graduate School alumni from 2016–2022 and found that, for teacher-education graduates, workplace relationships and environment weighed even more than salary in their job satisfaction — valuable insight for shaping programs that prepare graduates for the realities of work.
