👁️ What Is Myopia? (Nearsightedness) 👓
Myopia is a common vision condition where distant objects appear blurry while close-up items remain clear. It’s on the rise globally—especially in children and teens.
📌 How to Spot Myopia (Especially in Kids):
🔹 Squinting to see distant objects
🔹 Frequent headaches
🔹 Sitting too close to the TV or screen
🔹 Holding books or devices very close
🔹 Complaints of blurry distance vision
🔹 Falling grades or difficulty seeing the board at school
🌍 Pediatric Optometrists practicing Myopia Control, has seen how early detection can make a difference. Left unmanaged, myopia can progress and increase the risk of serious eye diseases later in life—like retinal detachment, glaucoma, or macular degeneration.
---
🛡️ The Good News:
There are evidence-based ways to slow myopia progression:
✅ Specialized myopia-control glasses or contact lenses
✅ Atropine eye drops (low-dose)
✅ More outdoor time (at least 2 hours/day)
✅ Balanced screen time and good visual hygiene habits
👨⚕️ Don’t wait until it worsens.
If you notice signs, schedule an eye exam right away—especially for children as young as 3 years old.
