The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) – Villanueva took center stage in advancing faculty development through the 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩, facilitated by the 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (CITL), held last 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟑–𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐏-𝐂𝐃𝐎.

The two-day training workshop was spearheaded by 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐋𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐝 𝐉𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐁. 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐋 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝. The program featured a series of interactive and collaborative activities designed to foster engagement, encourage learning, and provide faculty members with opportunities to explore innovative approaches to teaching and continuous improvement.

The training focused on the key stages of the Design Thinking process— Senses, Empathy, Ideate, and Prototype—which served as foundational principles in understanding learners’ needs and developing creative, learner-centered instructional solutions. Through dynamic activities and hands-on experiences, the workshop inspired faculty participants to actively engage, collaborate, and enjoy the process of problem-solving while applying Design Thinking principles in educational contexts.

The Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) would like to acknowledge the initiative of 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐱𝐢𝐞 𝐀. 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨, 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐋 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫, together with 𝐌𝐫. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐆. 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐚, 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐏 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐯𝐚, and all the faculty members for their unwavering dedication to learning and their active participation throughout the Training-Workshop.
